San Jacinto College ADN Fall 2009

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program?

Lets talk about it here

and we can go to any hospital right?

in any city?

In Texas, yes.

I'm probably moving up to Ohio after I graduate so I'm getting my license there : D

OK. one more question.

after we graduate from the ADN program, and get a job somewhere... do the majority of the nursing students (after they graduate) go back to school after a year of working maybe to get a bachelors degree?

or does it even make a difference?

I would assume so. It's perfectly natural to want to improve upon your current situation. When they do it might be different, but why they do it is the same.

Shayna- I have all my pre-reqs done for the bach degree so I will get mine online after we graduate. The hospitals now are making lvn's go back to school or work as PCA's coming up so I'm assuming that eventually in the next 5-10 yrs they MIGHT make nursing a bach degree only. They've changed physical therapy and pharmacy into a doctorate so it wouldn't surprise me if they eventually do away with the ADN program. They don't get paid any different, the only difference is with ADN you cannot be a director in a hospital, and can only be a manager if you are going to get ur bach. Hope this helps.

what's the difference between intermediate skills and clinicals? or are they the same.. if they are different, then we would be signed up for four instead of three, correct?

They are NOT the same. That's why there's 4 classes.

ok well on the fee slip it only has 3 classes shown, yet there are four syllabuses that i have ... are we jus not registered for clinicals yet? but we have the clinicals syllabus?

That is correct.

So I was registering last night (finally) and was looking at how many people were registered for each respective class. Jokingly I opened up the clinical one, and to my surprise, saw 11 people booked into one of the clinical spots. The other spots were all still closed, so this was the only one like that.

I checked my e-mail thinking maybe I had missed something, but alas, nothing. Then I began to come up with a reason this may have happened. The probable one--also the most boring of the two I have--was that somebody accidentally opened it and students thought, hey let's go! The second reason was they had students who may have failed the class before and they got priority seating.

In the long run, this is trivial as trivial can get, but since there's not much stimulating conversation going on (most likely because everyone is getting ready for classes) I thought I'd let you guys know.

Specializes in got a cna license but no job.

what are the two PE classes needed for San Jac? I wonder if we could take them at HCC?

Specializes in Oncall Hospice RN.

You can choose any 2 PE classes. I'm waiting for a mini session to take the last one since my yoga class was too time consuming.

Russell, I think you're correct about former students getting enrolled first. Even if we were assigned an instructor, I would still not know the time frame based on the registration schedule. Thanks for keeping an eye open.
