Has anyone gotten a response from the SFSU BSN Program? I emailed someone a while ago and they said it would be rolling around sometime between April and May (how vague :zzzzz). I am just a nervous wreck as everyone else waiting for their ACCEPTANCES (positive thinking!). I think I'm going insane checking the website once or twice a day . I've read somewhere around this forum that people have already been admitted or denied into the MSN program and the Accelerated BSN @ the Canada branch, but I applied at the main campus.
Here's hoping and praying...
hmm i sort of dont understand why they put some people on the spring semester. wouldnt it put those who actually apply during the spring at a disadvantage since the spots are being held for those who applied to the earlier semester? cause that would technically mean that alot of us who applied for fall 09 did not get accepted because of the filled seat from those who applied previous semesters. thats assuming there are 2 application periods, i just realized theres actually only 1 application period for sfsu right? other wise that would make sense
Hey bxdo,
There's only one application period for sfsu. They admit 80 people all at one, then they randomly select 40 people to begin clinical courses on the fall semester and 40 on the spring semester
I just received my acceptance letter earlier today as well... I really thought I wasn't going to get in considering posts made about majors being changed, etc. But it turns out I was accepted (conditionally since I still have to finish one more prereq this semester). Anyways I will be attending Spring 10' as well. Congrats to everyone else that made it, and hopefully we'll see each other then! For anyone interested in knowing, I had an overall 4.0 GPA and only 1/3 supplemental criterias (2nd language proficiency). Hope this helps those trying to get in.
Congrats cyclonite We will be classmates in Spring 2010. See you!
hey cotton_candies! listen, once you get there on the fall semester, take classes on your GE segment 3. your GE segment 1 and 2 should have been completed at the commuity college if you were a transfer student. you can choose any segment 3 cluster. they consist of 3 classes, usuallly a total of 9 units and is counted towards your sfsu graduation requirements. also, if you didn't complete any of the CSU-GE BREADTH in your community college, you need to make them up at sfsu. don't worry, your DARS report will tell you what you need. use that as a guide/key for graduation (hint hint).
if you're wondering how i know, i was a freshman at sfsu last semester but i withdrew from the university last semester too (i was dealing with a crisis...) but now i'm at a community college and plan to transfer back there so i know what to expect.
if you're a transfer: make lots of friends and explore because as a freshman, i witnessed my other transfer friends having a hard time with the social life. it is a communter school after all so many people get busy. there are some really cool activities at state too, and great clubs and organizations if you've got the time.
also, just my 2 cents, if you're a transfer student, you've got a great advantages and better oppurtunities on you than native students. there are many reasons why, including less graduation requirements to do, but that's what i've observed when i was an sfsu student.
good luck at SFSU and enjoy!
one other thing, watch out for ................................ works at the advising/counseling center and is incharge of new student orientations. i went to freshman orientation and she conducted it. she may look like a nice person but she's not a very nice person and isn't helpful either... she'll probably be the transfer orientation for you guys. just follow the requirements and you'll do fine. to many people, the segment 3 cluster courses are a waste of time and doesnt pertain to your major.
happy studying!

Hey Kayellow,Are you going to any of the orientations? I don't know what class to take in da fall. I guest i need to go to the orientation to find out.
I will be out of the country in June and wonder if i would miss any important event for the program.

Hi Cotton_Candies,
Yeah, I actually know what courses to take. I wanted to do something more after nursing, so I'm going to be taking general physics and chemistry. I'm going to attend the July 11th orientation, I think. That's the one I registered for. The orientation is a general one, though...it's not just for nursing majors. The July 11th one is for transfer students in particular. Yeah, maybe you should attend one of the orientations so you could ask what classes you could take while waiting for your spring 2010 clinical nursing courses. :)

There you go, cotton_candies! Your question is answered! Haha. Sorry, I wasn't able to answer your question, I spent all of my college years (2 years) at a community college, so I don't know what segment 3 is. So I guess, like what Solidus_Snake said, we should take segment 3 classes (which are required for graduation). That will lighten our load when we get in the actual program in spring. We actually have an advantage over those who start in the fall :) They get to start earlier, though...but atleast we get a semester to complete our graduation requirements
