Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Fall 2021

Hey All

I haven't yet seen a forum for this cohort yet and I wanted to start one! Applications are due soon and wanted to see how others are going along with the process and see if theres any advice or recommendations that anyone has. This could be with the application, interviews, pre-reqs, HESI, etc. I appreciate those who comment and add to the forum!

A little about me: originally from NYC moved out to Oakland in 2015. I worked in Urgent Care, and have volunteer work during Covid-19. Finishing up a few pre-reqs now and hopefully will have them done in time for the application due date Dec 1st. Let me know if there are any other questions for me, I am very interested to see the backgrounds of others who are also applying, its a stressful but exciting time for everyone! ?

P.S. if there is a forum for the Fall 2021 ELMSN program please link it!

I'm wondering if anyone has any objection to a facebook group that is for both FNP and CM students? Since we'll be doing the whole first year together, it may be super useful for us to get to know each other and create study groups and support each other.

Had my interview today for CM. Unfortunately didn’t get in to FNP got that disappointing email. Good luck to everyone!

They said the same to me as well! Late march/first week of April. Hopefully sooner rather than later ?

Has everyone who interviewed for CM heard back already? I thought my interview went pretty well on Tuesday, but I haven't heard from them since. I am not sure if acceptances will be sent out in waves. Best of luck everyone!

No, I just interviewed for CM today. I think they are sent in waves because people who interviewed before me have already got accepted which is weird since you would think they would wait until everyone interviews to make a decision.

I was surprised to hear that some acceptances went out too since yesterday was the last day of CM interviews. I haven't heard back either. Hopefully we'll hear from them this weekend! ?

I have recently had to download Discord to use for some online classes. I would definitely recommend using discord rather than FB, or maybe in addition to FB. If some people would rather steer away from using another application, I get it, but in my experience it’s been really useful since you can also direct message classmates. One server can be made for the cohort and conversation can be categorized like “#midterm1“ or “#HomeworkQuestions”

I agree its weird, a bit unsettling LOL, and makes me anxious about the upcoming responses ? The only way I can imagine admissions is doing this, is if they still had enough seats to continue considering students while sending out responses, meaning they probably already sent out some rejections and may be possibly waitlists as well? Maybe they have an algorithm? IDK just hypothesizing because the stress just has my mind making up stories in my head.
