Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Fall 2021

Published

Hey All

I haven't yet seen a forum for this cohort yet and I wanted to start one! Applications are due soon and wanted to see how others are going along with the process and see if theres any advice or recommendations that anyone has. This could be with the application, interviews, pre-reqs, HESI, etc. I appreciate those who comment and add to the forum!

A little about me: originally from NYC moved out to Oakland in 2015. I worked in Urgent Care, and have volunteer work during Covid-19. Finishing up a few pre-reqs now and hopefully will have them done in time for the application due date Dec 1st. Let me know if there are any other questions for me, I am very interested to see the backgrounds of others who are also applying, its a stressful but exciting time for everyone! ?

P.S. if there is a forum for the Fall 2021 ELMSN program please link it!

I interview today and actually haven't even received my link yet.. I emailed them and they gave me a very general response and said they will send it before my interview slot. Has anyone that is scheduled for today received their link yet?

I feel you! Im also interviewing tomorrow. I’ve been focusing on keeping myself relaxed as much as I can.

Hi all! Just wanted to give a little update since I had my interview today, and I know how nervous I was before. They sent me the link for the room a couple hours prior to the start time, so do not panic like me if you didn't receive one yet. Also, for those who plan on going "early", the room doesn't open up until 5 minutes before.

As for the interview, it wasn't that bad! It's not very technical at all, and it's more interactive with the other interviewees. I understand why people in the past have said that it's something that is hard to prep for. To put it in perspective, I was a lot more nervous before the interview than I was during the interview. Have fun with it and don't psych yourself out! You will all do great ?

Thank you for your information.  What did they ask you to discuss?

haha @jasminemilktea and others can correct me if Im wrong, but that is a lot to ask of them! And Im sure as much as  @jasminemilktea wants to help us, they may want to keep a competitive edge during this time. ??‍♀️

Maybe after the interviews happen we can chat about how we felt about the questions? And I promise Im not trying to be rude or make anyone feel some type of way, I just feel like asking about the specific question/topic is a hard ask without feeling defensive.

But others may feel differently and comfortable talking about it so Ill just mind my business LOL and read the advice silently LOL haha

I’m actually glad that you wrote that... I was thinking the same but didn’t know how to write it down.
Let’s try to not put anyone in an uncomfortable situation (I’m sure that this wasn’t anyone’s intention, there is probably a lot of anxiety at the moment).

as I mentioned in a previous post, they might not even recycle their questions. We already heard that the interview wasn’t very technical, so there is nothing we can really study for.

talking to Anne (FNP counselor) they just looking or a cohesive cohort. They want personalities that mesh well and are diverse, so while one might be a good candidate one application cycle they might not be the best match the next...regardless of our hard stats.

long post, sorry. Good luck to everyone tomorrow!

Really sweet of you both to consider me @FutureNP90 @Carda_S ❤️ I appreciate it!

I honestly would love to disclose the questions, but to be honest I'm a little scared to put it on a public forum in fear of admissions possibly seeing this and finding out who was the rat LOL. From today though, it was definitely a "get to know you" vibe, and it didn't seem like they were looking for a particular answer. Remember that it's pretty short and there are other interviewees there as well.

Mind you that I'm not sure if I will even be accepted, or how my interview even went. I just wanted to hopefully ease some of everyone's stress in this forum!

@jasminemilktea I totally get where you’re coming from! I would be weary too. Nonetheless thank you for the update and we appreciate you for calming our nerves — even just a bit! Did the panel mention when we could expect final decisions to come out?

I just got out of the interview session this evening not long ago. We were told that it would be the first week of April since they just started the interview process.
