Hey everyone,
I know this is early, but the application period for the fall Sacramento and San Mateo cohort will soon be here! This might be the first thread. Anyway, application deadline isn't until April, but if people could post their past and current GPA's and their HESI test scores so I can get idea of what the pool of applicants is like. It is so hard to tell what a good application is for every application period.
My last 60 units GPA 3.9
Science GPA 3.1 (Maybe 3.5 if I can submit my new chemistry class that ends May 4th -- hopefully with a grade A in May).
HESI scores -- taking in February and in March -- if I have to retake it.
Working as an EMT for 7 months.
No volunteer experience.
Thank you for confirming! :)
Hi moojoo! The email I received yesterday didn't ask me to follow-up as I don't have any classes "in progress" or "planned".
I received a preliminary email when I applied last year that asked me to confirm the "planned" classes I listed. I replied to the email on July 21st (same day I received the preliminary email) & received a response on July 25th informing me that my application was updated.
Hope this helps!
Hi Moojoo, I have 2 prereqs in progress but the SMU email I received did not ask about any incomplete prerequisites. In my experience, SMU is not the best with replying to e-mails (or answering the phone), but you probably have a better shot getting a response by phone, especially considering the deadline they gave you. Please let us know if you find anything out!
Ditto here, I wasn't asked to report back regarding incomplete prerequisites, even though I only have pathophysiology in progress (ending mid-May). Moojoo, are you planning on taking summer session to complete the remaining courses? I'm assuming SMU is checking in to make sure you're able to get everything done prior to the start date. I hope you hear back!

Moojoo, that's so interesting. Yay for being on track towards finishing. :)
Let's keep ourselves entertained as we are playing the waiting game. Here's a question for all of us prospects out there --
Is Samuel Merritt your first choice? If so, what made this program stick out to you compared to other nursing schools?
Well.... I just found out I got accepted into SCC RN program. SCC was sort of at the bottom of my list, but I am happy to know I have a program I can start in the fall. I would much rather get my BSN, but I can only wait to see if I get accepted into Samuel Merritt. Meanwhile, the sooner Samuel Merritt lets us know if we get in the sooner I can either commit or drop my summer pharmacology class.
@vcamera, i received it on the 16th, as the same email as the preliminary review.
SMU is my first choice! I feel very aligned with their values and am also excited that this program is only a year long. It's very close to where I live--a 20 minute drive, so it's convenient that I don't have to move. I only applied to this school!
Hey @vcamera,
Just for comparison to other applicants, I got my "We have received your app" email on March 29, and I applied march 27. For the "Preliminary, I just got it on April 16, so I had a wait time there too. I know it's stressful, but I would think you'll get something within the next week or two- it seems from previous threads that they get it within a month or so.
and @mom.to.3.boys congrats! that is awesome! I am in the same boat with waiting to register for pharmacology, but I figured I am just going to register for it just in case, since we won't hear will mid June, and that's already 4th week of 6 week classes with ARC
Hey @jr769941 thanks for taking the time to reply to me :) I actually did receive the preliminary review email a couple of weeks ago! I was just concerned because like moojoo, I have a few classes in progress. However, when I received the preliminary review email, it didn't say anything about responding and confirming my in-progress/planned classes so it made me a little nervous!
To be honest, Im probably reading too far into it! lol but thank you again for your input!!

Hi everyone,
Did your emails ask for a response within 10 days to follow up about incomplete prerequisites before being considered for admission?
I replied to the email, which was re-directed to a counselor, but I haven't gotten a response from them in 3 days.
