Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2014

Published

Hi Everyone! I know this is a bit early but I will be applying to SMU for the ABSN program of Summer 2014 (Oakland Campus). I am currently finishing my Bachelor's degree in health science at CSUEB right now and I will be done in the fall. I just wanted to start a discussion on this topic and get to know some people who are applying to the program for summer 2014. Let's get to know each other, share our stats, etc.

Here are my estimated stats that they look at:

Last 60 units GPA: 3.5

Pre req GPA: 3.4

Teas: 83 but I am re taking it in a couple of weeks

Experience: I am a CNA and Med tech currently. I volunteer at John Muir hospital and at American Red Cross.

I hope to hear from some prospective applicants soon!

I know someone from the last cohort who was waitlisted at no. 19, and by the end they had moved up to no. 5 (super competitive cohort, so many indivs got accepted at other places as well). My counselor said that they automatically plan to accept the first 10 individuals who are wait-listed. Take it with a grain of salt, but it sounds to me like you are in. Looking forward to meeting you. =0)

Hi! your posts give me so much hope. Did they say the planned to accept the first ten for this years cohort? at number 7 i am hoping they move up quickly I'm so nervous. Have you heard of anyone not accepting their spot yet?!! ugh so nervous

Not sure, but i feel that the wait lists goes into the first day of orientation or school. She said that the wait list usually goes quick, but i don't want to jinx it lol. hopefully we hear sooner than later.

I sent you a PM :)

Morning, had anyone heard from admissions?

Morning, had anyone heard from admissions?

unfortunately not. has anyone else heard any updates regarding waitlist movement?

I called yesterday no response, anyone else want to try?

has anyone that applied to the oakland may start date heard anything yet? or spoken with admissions? waiting is getting so hard!!!

I am also waiting to hear regarding Oakland. I'm guessing we will hear towards the end of the month. I emailed one of the admission counselors in Dec and she said as much. Thankfully we should know something in the next few weeks! Fingers crossed!!

I contacted the Oakland Counselor last week and she has not received anything back from the nursing staff about acceptances. So as we have all predicted it seems to be looking more like the end of February for Oakland. Can those that are applying for Oakland describe their volunteer experience and/or relevant certifications/experience. I feel that I am kinda lacking in that area and am super nervous/anxious. I have my EMT but no real experience in the field. Thanks
