Appropriate orientation attire
I must say that honestly, it doesn't matter what you wear to orientation. With that said, you will communicate a significant amount with whatever you decide to wear. Personally, I would not go out and but slacks if you do not have a nice pair (make sure that if you wear slacks, these are pressed, clean, not piling or faded). I would wear nice dark jeans (no holes or fading) with a button up, a blazer or cardigan, and a nice subtle necklace to dress it up. This is orientation, you already got the job... but, you definitely want to impress. I do agree that if you think it is cute or something you would wear to go out on girls night, you might want to re-think it. Some didactic instructors are also clinical instructors, and they will remember you if you stand out from the crowd in a positive way. Side note: I used to work in an office, so I only had business casual for lectures. Most of the other students wear the standard college gear (sweats and sandals), this did not make them get higher or lower test scores. The one thing I know is that instructors remember the students who get the high scores and the students are are always professionally presented. All my instructors remembered my name and commented on the nice dress/outfit I was wearing that day. Although I didn't have the highest scores, I was confident and that confidence helped me land in the above average category in tests.

Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2014
I know someone from the last cohort who was waitlisted at no. 19, and by the end they had moved up to no. 5 (super competitive cohort, so many indivs got accepted at other places as well). My counselor said that they automatically plan to accept the first 10 individuals who are wait-listed. Take it with a grain of salt, but it sounds to me like you are in. Looking forward to meeting you. =0)

Hello All, PM me to request my FB name. I need to be friends with you on my FB account to start a group. Here is the link to the Academic calendar... I've already started placing dates on my calendar. It is 3 packed semesters, there's only a 3wk break during winter. Nothing else in between. http://www.samuelmerritt.edu/files/academic_calendars/2014-2015__ABSN_SFPLC__-_April_Cohort.pdf

Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2014
Congrats Mr. Kim!!! Should we start a FB group for our cohort? I know some of the last cohorts have done this and they also met beforehand to see how everyone will be able to manage school for the next year. It is a good source of support and could be beneficial during crucial moments during our year of nursing school!!!

Hang in there. I was waitlisted last cohort because the competition was severe. I had to retake the TEAS and got some patient care exp under my belt and made it! The timing could not be better as my current job has flexibility.

I got my acceptance e-mail today! I'm in!!! I cannot believe it. For those of you who are in, would you like to meet up near the San Mateo Campus prior to our start date? I have a friend who is going through this program right now and she can give us a lot of great advice or at least the instructors for whom we need to work hard for to please. Congratulations to all who got accepted and best of luck to those still waiting to hear. MarvMIC

Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2014
The SMU counselor said that you need at least a 75 to be competitive. So, if you got anything above that with your other stats, you are doing well!! Best luck to you. I am hoping to get into the SP2014 cohort in the peninsula.

Spring 2014 Samuel Merritt University BSN direct-entry Nursing Program
Has anybody received a rejection letter? I heard a rumor that if you have not, it means that you have a very good chance of getting in. We have been promised a decision by 9/11, but may take a few more days. I am currently taking Pathophys and Pharm with a lot of other applicants to SMU ABSN Peninsula, and their stats are amazing! Competition is tough for Spring 2014.
