do u have an idea how much does a renal/dialysis nurse usually get?...in IL? thanks...

I interviewed yesterday for Davita in the Central Florida area and was quoted $20.00 - $22.00 for a starting nurse with no dialysis experience.

i think that is too low.

That's about right for this area considering new grads start out in the hospitals at 18.75/hr! I checked with Halifax and Florida Hospital which qouted me around 21.00-22.00/hr with 24 years experience(CVICU)! Central florida hospitals are one of the lowest paying areas in the state. Also dependant on if you want insurance or not also. If you take insurance then hourly pay is lower. Also I do know the hospitals are contracting with RN's from the Philliphines to come in secondary to such a large shortage in this area. One of the hospitals indicated they just contracted for 30 and plan on another group before long.

I'm still a student, but my patient went for dialysis today in the hospital. The RN I was talking to (from Davita) was hired 3 mo ago @ $24/hr as a new grad. This is in St.Petersburg, Fla.

It's dependant on the area of florida. Some pay higher some lower. I'm in the Daytona area. You can go to Orlando and get higher pay also but I wouldnt live there due to the crime rate and congestion. Also I beleive there is a difference between Acute and Chronic dialysis pay. Acute usually does on-call also where as chronic doesnt. I interviewed for a chronic dialysis clinic. There is also home peritoneal dialysis nurses also and the pay rate is different.

What is the pay rate for Dialysis Nurses (RN) in CT? Does anyone know?

I was offered $29/hr with Davita with no hemodialysis experience. (I have 5 yrs Critical Care). Getting a raise in April :) We get on call pay too....$75 a day.

What about in Southern California and Oregon..

hi y'all

please excuse my ignorance ;) but what exactly is per diem nursing? and is it a common practice?

I see you work for davita. We had a recruitment today at my school and I spoke to them. I liked the hours, and the personal relationships that is had with the patients. Pay is about the same, around 23 for a new grad. How has it been working for this co? did you start as a new grad? If you did how was your training? I read what you don't like, what are the things you do like about the job? Any input is great!!

Thanks

I've only been there a very short time but thus far I love it. I do have a great preceptor and the other teammates have been very supportive. Also depends on the type management you have at that particular facility keep in mind. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful Administrator too. They have let me progress at my own pace. I love the 3 days aweek and the 4 off. They sent me out of town for 5 days for training and paid the bill and my pay for the time. Heck "open bar" from 5 - 7 after the classes. The PCT's and LPN's(my preceptor who has been at this since '88) are a blast to work with also. I'm never bored that's for sure. Yes it's busy work but I know what I'm walking into unless there's a crisis pretty much on a daily basis. This was a whole different world for me after working nothing but Critical care in various type units like CVICU and Burns/Trauma, but at 50 years old it's fine for me lol. Plus I have every Sunday off no matter what, well guess unless we get hit with a hurricane. Not saying things could change down the road if management ever changed but for now it really works for me. Primary thing I hate is too "early" in the morning arghhhh.

Hey I don't know where your at but I moved to eastern N.C. when Davita bought Gambro. The Gambro staff hated the change and lots quit. So they are offering unbelievable pay because of the lack of RN's. I personally received about a 50 % increase when I moved and was given a modest moving expense check. Since July my Area has lost 2 FA's and several Floor RN's and bonus here the most tech have completed a 1 year program at the college.

Hey I am proud to say that Davita has proven to be a great company to me. I do understand sometimes there are clinics who get a FA that fails to run a good clinic but there are reports put in place that see a trend and they will pull them out and get a better fit. If you happen to be there for a while it can easily become you. They have great bonus sets some just for being there and others based on things such as patient treatment qualities. There are to many benefits for me to list but they are great in my mind. What I Enjoy the most is the PCT's handle most aspects of treatment and we supervise as needed but I get the chance to treat the patient and relay provide great 1 on 1 care. That is why we all started this career In my mind. Oh there is also a Dialysis cruise ship where you can work a little and cruise free for vacation. We also have outreach where you can go to a third world area and help open free clinics.
