Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications

Published

Hi everyone,

My name is Daniel and I just wanted to create this thread so everyone applying to Sac State can share their scores and post any questions they may have.

Ill start!

Pre +Co requisite GPA: 3.92

TEAS Score: 88.0%

Optional Criteria: 6

Overall app score: 78

I am planning to retake the TEAS exam in order to, hopefully, get a higher score!

I just stalked this thread lol. Is anyone going to take their wpj test or participate in their transfer bridge program?

Did anyone get accepted into other schools and are just waiting to hear if they got into a nursing program now? Because i am and the wait is terrible. I'm contemplating signing the intent to enroll for all of the ones that I've been conditionally admitted to. Is that allowed? Lol

I have a pre-req 4.00 gpa and a 3.98 cum gpa. And i got a 90 on the teas. No optional criteria. I hope that's good enough.

Someone mentioned that it's best not to work. I'm gonna have to work to pay rent and other expenses. Is anyone else worried about working too? Or have advice? I just passed the CNA test so I was hoping to work and gain experience...

I haven't signed any other intents to enroll since I still have time and I don't want to end up having to pay $$ to a school I'm not going to attend. You can do it if you want, but unless the deadline is almost gone I don't think there is much point.

With your GPA and TEAS score you should have 81 points, which I imagine should be more than enough to get in. But the pool is bigger this semester so we won't know until they give us an update...

Personally, I need to work while going to school too. I'm planning on just working part time, and I am worried it might affect my studying. But hopefully if we just plan our time well, and maybe work somewhere healthcare related, then it could even become a positive.

Good luck to you! :)

do you think that NP programs will accept Sac's NURS 113: Nursing Communication, Assessment, and Skills if they require a "nursing assessment" prerequisite?

They sent that out on April 3rd last year, so I wonder how much longer before they send out something similar for us. I did speak with someone in the nursing department on the phone the other day and they said this is the biggest applicant pool they have ever had, so it's probably going to take them even longer to give us an update. But either way, hopefully by this time next month we should all know that we've been accepted

Hearing that it was the biggest applicant pool made me a little nervous! But I checked the applicant pool stats and it looks like it usually goes up every year. I've been checking my email way too often for any updates, I'm really hoping we'll hear an update within the next week. At least time seems to be flying! :)

I agree with you. It seems that the number of applicants keep increasing every semester and the cutoff score also keep increasing, so i am not surprised it is the biggest applicant pool they 've had.

The update emails are out!! Everyone check your emails :)

"We received over 490 applications for 80 seats. Based on unverified student-reported data, the applicant ranked number 80 has 79 points—the applicant ranked 120 has 75 points. We anticipate the final cut-score will be lower when we have completed the evaluation and Intent to Enroll process, but we regret it may be higher than previous semesters"

Just got this in an email (sans the poor formatting):

Dear BSN Applicants,

RE: Fall 2015 Admission - IMPORTANT Deadlines

Thank you for your patience! We know you are anxiously waiting for your admission decision, and we are working extended hours to bring you news as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we hope the following information will be helpful—please read to the very end! For additional updates on the admission process, please check back on the Traditional BSN homepage, Traditional BSN. Due to human resource limitations, please do not call or email the School of Nursing. Thank you!

 1. We received over 490 applications for 80 seats. Based on unverified student-reported data, the applicant ranked number 80 has 79 points—the applicant ranked 120 has 75 points. We anticipate the final cut-score will be lower when we have completed the evaluation and Intent to Enroll process, but we regret it may be higher than previous semesters, http://www.csus.edu/HHS/nrs/programs/undergraduate/traditional/Docs/app_pool_stat_2-1-15.pdf.
 2. Admission decisions will be emailed as follows:

 • Candidates ranked 1-170 will be notified in late April; before the May 1 University, Intent to Enroll deadline. We will post a specific date on the Traditional BSN website after April 15.
 • Candidates ranked 171 or higher, based on student-reported data, will be notified Friday, April 17 after 5 p.m.

If you could hold any questions until after you receive your admission decision, that would be helpful! I regret, due to the additional workload associated with the admissions process, we are not able to answer email and phone requests at this time. Of course, if you have an URGENT request, we are happy to help!

 1. If you have not received your admission decision by your registration date, please register for the courses you would take if you were not selected for admission to the nursing program. Do not miss your opportunity to register for courses! If you are selected for admission, placement in your nursing courses is guaranteed! It is your responsibility to enroll in any remaining corequisite courses. The staff will enroll you in your nursing courses in mid-June (the exact date will be provided on the orientation website). Completing any remaining corequisite courses over summer will lighten your load next fall! Summer registration opens on April 1 at Sac State—April 20 at local Los Rios Community Colleges. These dates are tentative—please check campus websites to confirm!
 2. Frequently Asked Questions- Please read carefully—twice would be good!

Just hoping I filled my application out correctly.

Yeah, after years of hard work and energy, being less than four weeks from finding out if we're accepted, is pretty exciting.

Just hoping I filled my application out correctly.

Right there with you. I'm going to be overthinking everything until we get acceptance letters :p there was nowhere on the application we actually wrote our points out, right? I have 84 points but I don't remember specifically writing that on the application!

No it wasn't anywhere on the application, but all the things that give you that score are there so I'm sure they'll be able to add it up (hopefully correctly!). http://www.csus.edu/hhs/nrs/programs/undergraduate/Traditional/apply/Docs/2015_fall_supp_nurs_app.pdf

So suspenseful - 4 weeks is still a long wait for me!

Did anyone apply to anywhere else? I've applied to CSU East Bay and CSU Long Beach, as well. It's a toss up between Sac State and EB for me. I wont hear from EB until the end of May, though.

how hard would the first semester be if I still had to do the human development corequisite?
