Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications

Published

Hi everyone,

My name is Daniel and I just wanted to create this thread so everyone applying to Sac State can share their scores and post any questions they may have.

Ill start!

Pre +Co requisite GPA: 3.92

TEAS Score: 88.0%

Optional Criteria: 6

Overall app score: 78

I am planning to retake the TEAS exam in order to, hopefully, get a higher score!

Specializes in Neonatal, NICU level IV.

I am not sure but I will try to help you...

First, no one who is an alternate will have more points than someone accepted.

The cut off for any semester is the last person admitted in that pool. For example: if the 75th person accepted has 80 points and the last person accepted (ex: alternate 27) has 71 points, the cut off is 71.

In my semester we even had one person drop on the day of orientation and an alternate took her place. Therefore, the point total of the alternate taking the now vacant spot is now the cutoff for the semester.

thanks you and @ sunbun123 for the explanation. you guys are really helpful.

I feel better about my TEAS score now. I am still going to retake it next month. I know i can do better than 88.7% if i focus more on science section.

Hi Claudiamoss!

I was also at Sac State on the 27th. I got an 87% on the TEAS. I'm so disappointed! My weakest area is math and I got 100% in that section. However, I had a TON of earth science questions. I didn't do well with those and as a result my total score suffered big time. I had 8 scientific reasoning questions as well, but thankfully I did well in that area. I've read so many responses from people stating that there were very few earth science questions, so I just wasn't prepared for the amount that I got. I decided to take the test again and I noticed that Napa Valley College has openings all month so I was able to register for next week. I'll be studying like crazy until then. Good luck to you on your next attempt as well! Hopefully I'll be back here next weekend with better results.

good luck to you. The only opening in Sacramento is Feb 24th and everything else is after March. I picked Feb 24th.

I also got 100% on Maths, I honestly think Maths on the real test is easier than the ATI handbook.

I wish i had more Earth Science questions and less scientific reasoning questions. I am really bad at choosing what the best / effective/ logical way to do experiment. hahaha

What I have noticed from the scientific questions is that the answer is usually the one that mentions the most number of tests with variety. That works for most but some are really confusing. I got a question involving seeds germination in respect to different color lighting and I had no idea what the answer was ha :(

I just mailed off my application today and now it's time to wait....I hate waiting. lol. And the new paperwork said the letters will be emailed "late April/early May" instead of just "late April" like it said before... :dead:

Heads up: the University (not school of nursing) is sending out early acceptance notifications via email!

Ya I got that email too  It's good to know that the college will accept us. Now we just have to wait to hear if the Nursing school will :woot:

Hello everyone! I am in my last semester of nursing school. I remember always being on this website before I got accepted!

Hello everyone! I am in my last semester of nursing school. I remember always being on this website before I got accepted!

So how did it go? I would have loved to be able to be there and pick your brains, but I'm living in southern California. Any good info that came up that you can share? Seriously all the waiting is killing me, but we still have 10+ weeks before we know if we get accepted....

I have a question about the nursing application. When I ordered my official transcripts after Fall 2014 grades had been posted, it did not include a pre-requisite class I am taking this semester because I was not added to the class roster until the week before this semester started. I did however include this class as in-progress on my nursing application. Am I okay to send my transcripts as is so long as the transcripts I send after Spring grades are posted reflect my completion of this pre-requisite course, or should I order a new official transcript that includes this pre-requisite in progress?

There wasn't anywhere in the application or application instructions where it specifically said we need to have the in-progress classes included with the official transcripts. I had assumed that meant it wasn't important, but now you have me wondering....

I did find one section of the application that may be helpful. Here's what it says:

" In Progress Courses – Use IP” if course is in progress; see example on next page. If selected, you will berequired to provide unofficial transcripts to confirm IP courses are completed with a C- or better grade. YourNursing GPA will not be recalculated when your IP grades are received; however, your IP grades may be a factor inany future application. "

Based on the part I put in bold, I think it implies that we don't need to worry about it until later. But again, its not explicitly spelled out so I'm not sure...
