Hi everyone,
My name is Daniel and I just wanted to create this thread so everyone applying to Sac State can share their scores and post any questions they may have.
Ill start!
Pre +Co requisite GPA: 3.92
TEAS Score: 88.0%
Optional Criteria: 6
Overall app score: 78
I am planning to retake the TEAS exam in order to, hopefully, get a higher score!
As far as commuting...
It depends on where you live. Hospitals are in Roseville, downtown, and off Mather Blvd. Mental health has some in Sacramento and some in Davis (yes the city of Davis). Community health can take you all the way out in Woodland/Davis or some random trailer park in the middle of nowhere that makes you feel like you are in a horror movie. So YES, Some places are farther than others and YES, some are farther than 30 min especially in traffic!
Also, as a heads up from the Spring 2015 applicant pool...
Original point cutoff was 73
80/287 applicants were accepted
They initially accept 75 students (the 76th-80th will be alternates #1-#5). This is to give room for error.
I was alternate #21 with 71 points, which kinda means alternate #16. And there were only 9 alternates accepted, including the #1-#5.. so technically only 4 more alternates were accepted because people dropped, didn't pass background check, etc.
But there are usually many more applicants who drop in the Fall. So a high alternate number isn't as scary.
Best of luck to all!!!
took the TEAS test at Sac State today. No breaks and could not leave the room during the exam... It was tough sitting 4 hours straight.
Of course they gave me a lot of scientific reasoning questions ( like 4 or 5 of them) and asked me what is the best/ most effective/logical way to do certain experiment. got many of them wrong..sigh.. i am no scientist or logical person i guess:(
Plan on taking the TEAS again next month. any tips??
@sunbun123 I noticed usually fall semester has a lot more applicants declined . Does the cut-off point in Spring,2015 mean that the last applicant being accepted has a score of 73? I cannot find the statistics on Sac Nursing website.
Pre +Co requisite GPA: 4.00
TEAS Score: 88.7%
Optional Criteria: 3
Overall app score: 81
Hi. The #75 person had 73 points. Then they go from there... so MOST LIKELY (if there was no error) the alternates #1-#5 get in because they admit 80. They admit the last 5 after about a week to allow for any error to surface. Does that help?? Sorry. It is kinda confusing at first.
sorry i am little confused and probably dumb. The #75th person had 73 points but the alternates #1-5 had 80 points? How come they weren't like the #65 to #70?
sorry my brain isn't functioning well after the TEAS today. especially without toilet break for 4 hours, and i am still kinda upset about those scientific reasoning and principles questions. LOL
The initial cutoff was 73 points for the first accepted 75 students. Not sure what it was for students 76-80 (who are also alternates #1-#5), but it was probably 73 points too.
LOL. thanks for the explanation. i re-read your reply and know what you mean. the "80" you mentioned means 80 applicants, not 80 points. wow i really need to nap now, i didn't sleep well last night.
This is a major part of the email I recieved that should explain it.....
It is too early to determine what the final point cutoff will be for*Spring 2015,*but we estimate it will be higher than previous spring terms.*Candidates with the same point total are ranked according to their Nursing GPA; and if needed, TEAS score.* The current point cut off is 73 points—this may drop with declines (Spring 2014, 8 declines; Spring 2012, 11 declines; Spring 2013, not comparable since University admission was only open to Sac State students).
You were part of an exceptional group of 287 candidates from which we will enroll 80.* Seventy-five candidates have been offered admission; five seats will be held open until*Friday, December 5, the deadline to report any errors.* If an applicant declines admission, we will immediately offer the seat to the next alternate on the list.* The candidate ranked number seventy-six is now alternate number one.* Your alternate number will not change.* If you are alternate number one through five, you have an excellent chance of being admitted.* The alternate list is maintained until the end of the first week of instruction.* Please refer to the School of Nursing,*Traditional BSN*homepage for the last alternate selected to-date,File Not Found - 404 - Sacramento State

Thank you so much for all your help. I'm sure we all really appreciate it!
One last question though, when you say clinicals are 12 hours, is that 12 hours a day or is it divided up (like 6 hours, 2 times per week)?
