Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications

Published

Hi everyone,

My name is Daniel and I just wanted to create this thread so everyone applying to Sac State can share their scores and post any questions they may have.

Ill start!

Pre +Co requisite GPA: 3.92

TEAS Score: 88.0%

Optional Criteria: 6

Overall app score: 78

I am planning to retake the TEAS exam in order to, hopefully, get a higher score!

Co and Prerequisite GPA: 4.00

TEAS: 91.3%

Optional: 0

Overall app score: 83

I'll be sending applications to the BSN programs at Chico State, SF State, Nevada-Reno, and Samuel Merritt as well, but considering tuition, and cost of living (assuming I'm accepted), I'm leaning toward Sacramento State.

Cheers!

Wow that's a great score! You should have no trouble getting in! I was disappointed on my TEAS test because somehow I managed to screw up in the math section. I had everything down but I must've made small mistakes, which cost you a lot with only 34 questions :/

It's funny, I studied on and off for the TEAS test for about two months, but not until the final two weeks before taking it did I remember that even the most basic arithmetic takes time and practice.

I'm from Los Angeles Mission College and it said in assist.org that my science pre-req don't articulate! It said as long as it has lecture and lab I'm fine so to speak. I've emailed the articulations officer but I haven't received a response yet. And for nursing admission do they only consider the 8 pre-reqs more of an emphasis than the 8 pre-req and the co requisite gpa?

Pre +Co requisite GPA: 3.55

TEAS Score: retaking

Optional Criteria:12

Overall app score: will update later

Not sure if this is what you're asking, but the co and prerequisite gpa is what counts. The prerequisite courses are given more of an emphasis in that they must be completed before you enroll while co requisites do not. However, co-requisite classes must be completed before you start the nursing program (i.e. your first semester would consist of finishing your co-requisite courses at Sac State).

Okay, phew! I think my gpa is okay then right? I'm going to try to score an 85 or above to get in. Wish me luck! Also for the volunteer/ work experience, I have another issue from there. You see last summer I worked as an office assistant in a clinic setting. I wasn't as a medical receptionist, however I did have contact-patient interaction. I had to verify insurances, make appointments, fax documents, things what a receptionist does. Would that be considered in your perspective? I also volunteer at a hospital and will have a job where I would foreshadow a nurse. It is like an internship.

Hi funsizedprenurse,

Just like Keen Observer said, the GPA is based on the Pre req and Co req courses you have completed before the the Spring Semester. On the website it states:

"One science and one non-science prerequisite course, two total, may be in progress in spring when applying for fall."

This applies to the pre-reqs only since the co reqs can be completed once you are in the program. and good luck! If you haven't already, you should buy the ATI TEAS V study manual! It helps a lot. And if you had in person patient interaction it should be fine. Even if it didn't it wouldn't hurt to include it and let them decide if they will allow it. The nurse shadowing should be acceptable though.

Hello!

I thought I'd share my stats:

Co-, prerequisite gpa: 3.73

TEAS: 88

Optional criteria: 3

Score: 61

Do you guys have any idea what the cut off was for Spring 2015?

I'm retaking my teas seeing as my score is extremely uncompetitive. Good luck to us all!

hi guys, I was wondering if anyone knew how uncompleted co-requisites are counted into your GPA (if they are at all). Thanks for any help =]

stats:

GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 94%

Optional Criteria: 0

total score: 89

Uncompleted co-requisites are not counted into your GPA.

The nursing grade point average used to rank candidates for admission to the clinical nursing program will becalculated using the grades from the prerequisite and corequisite courses completed at the time of application(quarter units and grade points will be converted to semester).
