Rutgers Accelerated Nursing- Fall 2015 (Newark)

Published

Wow, seems like no one is applying here or maybe we just have a lot of readers. In any case i hope to apply for the accelerated nursing program for Fall 2015. originally, it was to be Spring 2016 because i haven't finished prereqs but I'm hoping to be done next spring (of 2015) and hoping they extend the deadline. Anyone else?!!

Just so you guys know, Rutgers changes everything last minute. This is your first example of that. It is very frustrating for all students.

Any new news? Did you guys apply anywhere else? What are u thinking of doing, in terms of accepting to go elsewhere/ wait on rutgers?

It's weird because they process no accelerated nursing apps so quickly, I know someone who submitted his application and heard within two weeks!

I'm really on the fence here. NJCU has orientation next week! When I called RUSN admissions, they were like "we have 300 apps, we're doing the best we can"... ugh

Hi SweetDream,

I have not heard back yet and neither have two of my friends. I only applied to RU. I am checking the mailbox EVERYDAY!

I highly doubt that for some reason. If they had so many why push the deadline back so far?

It's really frustrating. I accepted at another school but going to Rutgers would be so much more convenient. I'm getting a physical and paying for a background check and looking for apartments to relocated to for the other school. I don't understand why Rutgers pushed everything so far back.

It just looks bad on their part. Rutgers might be the cheaper alternative but at the same time I would like to have updates on what is taking so long. The process with them is just pushing me away.

I assumed they pushed the deadline back so far to get as many apps as possible. I remember talking with admissions several months ago and I asked about how many applicants they receive/how many they accept; I can't remember the exact details but I think they were accepting about 60 per campus, and they got 120 apps for each campus. (Obviously this didn't happen last semester, since there was no NB class, but let's say that it's generally true.) That would be a total of 240 apps, and if they extended the deadline to get more applicants who had finished their pre-reqs, it could definitely get up to about 300. Because it's a pretty small number (in the grand scheme of schools and applicants), it could easily fluctuate from year to year and semester to semester, as well.

It may also be that the fall semester is a more popular time to start than the spring semester.

I assume they did this instead of the de-facto rolling admissions in order to choose the most qualified from the whole group at once. I don't know that it's going to work out the way they want, since so many other schools have already required deposits and orientation, etc.

My thing is they do it every semester, last year they pushed back the spring deadline all the way to December and the fall deadline for last year too. They are just not well coordinated. They can say all they want how many apps they have but that means nothing.

Do we have any idea when they'll release decisions? I'm getting my physical done for another school tomorrow. I feel bad for those that have orientation in the next couple of weeks.

jess674, as of yesterday they were "hoping" for the end of this month, and to be honest they did not sound very optimistic
