Roseman University Spring/Feb 2020

Published

Hi everyone!

The Spring 2020 application period has just opened up! I just wanted to start a new thread for those who are rolling over from the last application period (Fall/Oct 2019) as well as to those who are applying for the first time to share our questions and/or concerns.

Feel free to ask, comment or discuss anything about the admissions process, interviews, and the program itself.

Do let us know whether you're a rollover applicant or first time applicant, too. Good luck everyone!

So to answer everyone’s questions they are moving from ACEN to CCNE. Which is much better in my opinion. There around pockets around the country like in Washington where they will only take graduate students who have graduated from a CCNE BSN program. It seems that it is increasingly harder to find CCNE programs and can really jam things up. I am only halfway through the program yet, I already know two students who graduated when I first started who are now starting on their Masters. Getting into graduate school after Roseman is relatively common...CRNA programs to FNP-DNP etc. If there are questions in regards to your GPA or the pass no pass scale used your new school will contact Roseman. To avoid all of that you can also get a letter from the Dean of the school explaining all of this but you also get a GPA printed on your transcripts reflecting a 4.0 if you successfully make it through the program.

@Chao Good morning,

I see that your half way through the program. Congratulations!! I had a few questions for you. How is it? Is it manageable? Do you like the online setting verse the tradition? Do you work while going? What campus are you at? I look forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you in advance,

Monique

I am wondering about Roseman's accreditation. The program seems like it would make it very difficult to continue education in nursing after completing the ABSN due to the non-traditional grading structure. I am wondering if anyone knows anyone who has gone to Roseman and been accepted to a DNP or Masters program afterwards. Anyone else concerned about this or have any info?

In the recent interview information session, this exact question was raised. The only answer given was to check with the masters program you are interested in to see if they accept this type of grading system. We were not given any further answer on that, unfortunately.

Monique,

in my opinion it is very manageable. It doesn’t matter if you are taking the hybrid online BSN they are both accomplishable if you put in the time. Also don’t fall under the impression the ABSN is truly online, we still meet on campus a lot for tests, labs and studying. Overall you should find the program that works for you, if you would rather have someone teach you everyday or if you feel pretty confident that you can figure things out somewhat on your own. I’m at South Jordan and I really love Utah but at first I truly thought it would be terrible. However I can only speak on my experiences about Utah and the SJ campus. The professors are amazing and incredibly easy to access along with preceptors who have taught me at clinical sites.

Feel free to ask any other questions!

@Chao

Thank you so much for the Information. I am applying this go around so I’m just curious. I live in Northern California and plan to go back and forth if that is manageable, so I’m trying to get a feel for on average how many days your on campus? Or does it depend on the block your in? Are you from UT? I hear it’s beautiful.

Thank you,

Monique

Monique,

If you are planning on doing so, don't plan on doing that frequently. Most schedules are only released a month in advance and sometimes you will get last minute emails for orientations at different facilities. So it can get very crazy very quickly. I had a mentee who actually had to drop out because they couldn't keep up with traveling back and forth. We are actually on campus A LOT, just not everyday. So unless it's your absolute only option then I'd suggest that you bring that up during interviews to get another view on things from staff/ current students. I'm also from out west and have to say that Utah is beautiful! I love seeing the mountains and all the fluffy snow, summers are also amazing its always sunny!

@Chao,

Good to know! I am just trying to work 1 day a month at my current job Kaiser so I can keep my seniority because it’s easier bidding jobs with more seniority when it comes to being an RN. It’s just figuring out living situation will be the hardest part since there isn’t in campus housing, since my husband has to stay in Sacramento for his job.

Received my Oct interview invite today super excited!

Congrats!!!!!!! Hoping I get an invite as well. I had to roll over from last cohort. Do you mind sharing your stats? Trying to figure out what my chances are

I think Oct 16th in henderson

Yes 10/16 @ Henderson. My stats: TEAS 83%/GPA 3.13. I'm sure some have better/lower stats in my opinion many factors probably play a factor but that's just my guess. Best of luck to all! I was told by an applicant last year that some invites came as close as something like 10 days prior but don't hold me to it, who knows what the exact parameters could be you just never know! ?

Just read through the thread thanks for all the info! Two questions for current students:

1. Why does Roseman require the Dell laptop fee are there some programs on there they want all students to have or something? And to clarify you cannot "opt out" of this if you have your own?

2. Realistically how often per week or per month are you required to be on campus? (I am in-between whether or not the hybrid aspect is doable since I live in Cali, or is it truly necessary to rent an apt/room rather than driving/flights/hotels to commute for labs/classes/tests)
