Roseman University Spring/Feb 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

The Spring 2020 application period has just opened up! I just wanted to start a new thread for those who are rolling over from the last application period (Fall/Oct 2019) as well as to those who are applying for the first time to share our questions and/or concerns.

Feel free to ask, comment or discuss anything about the admissions process, interviews, and the program itself.

Do let us know whether you're a rollover applicant or first time applicant, too. Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone!

Im a first time applicant and submitted my application on Sept. 7th, so I’m currently waiting for an interview invite. Does anyone know if the computer fee is mandatory? And if so, would we get a laptop?

Yes, the computer fee is mandatory. They will get all the students a same laptop. I heard it’s a Dell laptop that flips over and costs about $1000.

Hey all, hope everyone is doing well!

I currently have the TEAS exam (78%) and all other courses completed except for Micro (which is currently in progress this fall semester). My adviser said you could apply with a course in progress. Realistically, do you think that makes me eligible for an interview? Not really anticipating an invite, but staying hopeful just in case it comes!

Jlay,

there really is nothing to worry about. I got in before completing two of my prereqs. So it is very possible. They can however rescind their offer if you do not get a grade they feel is acceptable...

finish strong and keep your head up.

Thank you so much for the insight!

I am wondering about Roseman's accreditation. The program seems like it would make it very difficult to continue education in nursing after completing the ABSN due to the non-traditional grading structure. I am wondering if anyone knows anyone who has gone to Roseman and been accepted to a DNP or Masters program afterwards. Anyone else concerned about this or have any info?

Roseman University itself is accredited by the North-West Commission On Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). The Nursing program is further accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Both of these are recognized by the US Department of Education which makes them pretty official.

However with all this being said, your comment made me curious. While I was doing the research to calm my own nerves about accreditation and maybe find something out about transferring, I learned that Roseman might be LOSING ITS ACCREDITATION BY THE END OF THIS YEAR!!!! Under the official ACEN website, it lists Roseman's nursing program as a "VOLUNTARY WITHDRAWAL" with the date of December 31, 2019. http://www.acenursing.us/accreditedprograms/programsearch.asp

I'm pretty upset right now, as I've been looking at Roseman as one of my top choices since last year, and now that I've finally applied for the next cohort I'm not even sure what to do. I suggest that every prospective student DO THEIR OWN RESEARCH! Look into alternative schools & email your counselors to ask them to clarify what this all means. This seems like something major that every prospective student should know, because loss of accreditation has MAJOR CONSEQUENCES to students!!!!

Look up Roseman University by either selecting Nevada or Utah.

They are still listed as CCNE accredited. Isn’t that enough in itself?

Wow thanks for pointing that out! I was in panic mode and now I just feel stupid! CCNE is actually "better" than ACEN. Under the official Accreditation section of Roseman's homepage it still has it listed as ACEN accredited.

I guess i just saw "Voluntary Withdrawal" and just freaked!

No problem! I think we’re all so stressed these days ?

So to answer everyone’s questions they are moving from ACEN to CCNE. Which is much better in my opinion. There around pockets around the country like in Washington where they will only take graduate students who have graduated from a CCNE BSN program. It seems that it is increasingly harder to find CCNE programs and can really jam things up. I am only halfway through the program yet, I already know two students who graduated when I first started who are now starting on their Masters. Getting into graduate school after Roseman is relatively common...CRNA programs to FNP-DNP etc. If there are questions in regards to your GPA or the pass no pass scale used your new school will contact Roseman. To avoid all of that you can also get a letter from the Dean of the school explaining all of this but you also get a GPA printed on your transcripts reflecting a 4.0 if you successfully make it through the program.
