If you’re set on staying in UT you may need to apply all over the state like Snow, Roseman, SUU, Provo and Weber. I just moved out of Utah but I know a lot of great nurses who cane from Wyoming. Check the Wyoming NCLEX pasa rates from the BON and you can see data on their programs. A lot of the technical colleges from what I’ve heard prepare their nurses well and are super cheap! I can always answer any more questions or tell you about the surrounding areas/states.

Hi I am a current student but I just wanted to say that they just provide you with a brandnew dell laptop. Ours is touch screen. It is also preloaded with windows office, exam taking software etc. I think they do that just to limit people from running into problems where they cannot do something because they can't afford the software etc. Overall I don't mind the computer it pretty easy to function and when things have gone wrong they have IT on campus which can fix software and hardware. For the sake of moving I'd say just move here. You may have to spend solid chunks of time during clinicals and sometimes leading up to clinicals you have in person labs, lab pass offs and didactic exams which can probably account for at least 2-2.5 and sometimes 3 months of on the ground time in one go. However, you will have times where you can travel back home. There was pretty much a solid period where we had a "Summer break" surrounded by complete online classes with no exams so most people travel back home. I will say though that they can drop the bomb and say things like you have 2 days before a orientation for something so you need to scramble back from wherever you are. Also if you miss things like orientations, labs they will not hesitate to remediate you. All labs pass offs, demonstrations, open labs, exams and clinicals are done in person on campus (with the exceptions for right now). Again for the ABSN program you still are more so on campus than you are off but most of the experiences are done online.

In that area I’d say Sugar House is a nice area but it can get really pricey. Also there’s two main sections of the I15 under construction so I’d say For right now use google maps during rush hour to see what the drive is like to and from SLC before you sign a lease.

I would recommend the closer you can be to campus the better! So in Sandy, South Jordan, West Jordan, or Daybreak area. There’s lot of apartment complexes all over I’d suggest using phone apps like Zillow, Apartments. Com, Zumper and even the website KSL classifieds under rental properties for potential housing. When it’s snowing hard here the last thing you want is a long drive in traffic. -Chao

Monique, If you are planning on doing so, don't plan on doing that frequently. Most schedules are only released a month in advance and sometimes you will get last minute emails for orientations at different facilities. So it can get very crazy very quickly. I had a mentee who actually had to drop out because they couldn't keep up with traveling back and forth. We are actually on campus A LOT, just not everyday. So unless it's your absolute only option then I'd suggest that you bring that up during interviews to get another view on things from staff/ current students. I'm also from out west and have to say that Utah is beautiful! I love seeing the mountains and all the fluffy snow, summers are also amazing its always sunny! -Chao

Monique, in my opinion it is very manageable. It doesn’t matter if you are taking the hybrid online BSN they are both accomplishable if you put in the time. Also don’t fall under the impression the ABSN is truly online, we still meet on campus a lot for tests, labs and studying. Overall you should find the program that works for you, if you would rather have someone teach you everyday or if you feel pretty confident that you can figure things out somewhat on your own. I’m at South Jordan and I really love Utah but at first I truly thought it would be terrible. However I can only speak on my experiences about Utah and the SJ campus. The professors are amazing and incredibly easy to access along with preceptors who have taught me at clinical sites. Feel free to ask any other questions! -Chao

So to answer everyone’s questions they are moving from ACEN to CCNE. Which is much better in my opinion. There around pockets around the country like in Washington where they will only take graduate students who have graduated from a CCNE BSN program. It seems that it is increasingly harder to find CCNE programs and can really jam things up. I am only halfway through the program yet, I already know two students who graduated when I first started who are now starting on their Masters. Getting into graduate school after Roseman is relatively common...CRNA programs to FNP-DNP etc. If there are questions in regards to your GPA or the pass no pass scale used your new school will contact Roseman. To avoid all of that you can also get a letter from the Dean of the school explaining all of this but you also get a GPA printed on your transcripts reflecting a 4.0 if you successfully make it through the program. -chao

Jlay, there really is nothing to worry about. I got in before completing two of my prereqs. So it is very possible. They can however rescind their offer if you do not get a grade they feel is acceptable... finish strong and keep your head up. chao

You won’t be able to buy scrubs Or find used ones until you start orientation. They are all special ordered through a scrubs shop near campus. Once you complete orientation you will be on a preapproved list to purchase scrubs that will be embroidered. -Chao

Mlay, I'm also a current ABSN student in SJ and don't worry about the 90%, the tests for the most part are very straight forward. There are two ways post individual test to earn a few points back in case you're just shy. Program as a whole is completely manageable if you get it done right. If you feel you want/need to work, try and get a campus job first, and if you feel you can do more maybe switch to a job somewhere nearby? I'd also strongly advise you bring a car!

I’m a current Roseman student and I know a bunch of people who just graduated and moved back to California. Three of them had jobs lined up before they even got their license. As of today all three are working 2 in NorCal and one in SoCal.
