Roseman University Spring/Feb 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

The Spring 2020 application period has just opened up! I just wanted to start a new thread for those who are rolling over from the last application period (Fall/Oct 2019) as well as to those who are applying for the first time to share our questions and/or concerns.

Feel free to ask, comment or discuss anything about the admissions process, interviews, and the program itself.

Do let us know whether you're a rollover applicant or first time applicant, too. Good luck everyone!

Just read through the thread thanks for all the info! Two questions for current students:

1. Why does Roseman require the Dell laptop fee are there some programs on there they want all students to have or something? And to clarify you cannot "opt out" of this if you have your own?

2. Realistically how often per week or per month are you required to be on campus? (I am in-between whether or not the hybrid aspect is doable since I live in Cali, or is it truly necessary to rent an apt/room rather than driving/flights/hotels to commute for labs/classes/tests)

I only know the answer to (1) as it was clarified in the September interview. You have to buy the Dell laptop through roseman as it has their software on it (for exams, etc) and they have technical support on campus. It is not a choice, unfortunately. ?

Yes 10/16 @ Henderson. My stats: TEAS 83%/GPA 3.13. I'm sure some have better/lower stats in my opinion many factors probably play a factor but that's just my guess. Best of luck to all! I was told by an applicant last year that some invites came as close as something like 10 days prior but don't hold me to it, who knows what the exact parameters could be you just never know! ?

Awesome!! Good luck !!!

I got my October interview today as well, good luck everyone! ?

Nice thank you! Did you get accepted if so which campus may I ask? Any other tips on interview day? How long did it run/was there a tour in addition to questions/essay. Is it individual or group panel? Thanks in advance

I was also in this month's (Sept) interview in South Jordan. They said that we'll find out two weeks from Friday. We had our interview on Sept. 18 which means that we should find out on Oct. 4.

I suggest looking through other Roseman threads for some of the interview questions, which is what I did to prepare. I had gotten some of the same questions for the interview.

Here's what the Sept Interview Day looked like:

Attendees: 27 interviewees

Start: around 12:45ish

  1. Tour of the campus (It's really just a building.)
  2. Information Session (About Roseman, Financial Aid, Curriculum Schedule, Program details) - you get a folder with all this information
  3. Written Component (started around 2ish) - you get to choose 1 of 2
    • Questions I got:
      • What are three important aspects in teamwork and how would they relate to nursing?
      • Something about motivation and give and example.
  4. Interviews - multiple interviews were going on, some people were in and out in 15-20 min.
    • I had a faculty and a current ABSN student.
    • Questions:
      • Tell me about a time where you had to go above and beyond, how did it go?
      • Tell me about a time you had to display leadership and motivate someone.
      • Tell me a time where you had to earn the respect of someone, what did you do?
      • Why is caring and compassion important in nursing?
      • How would you display professionalism as a student nurse? (something along those lines)

End: around 3-3:30ish

My advice is to jot down some talking points for each questions when preparing for the interview. Practice with someone once or twice to help you with speech, body language and gestures (eg. not keeping eye contact even when trying to think of an answer, fidgeting, choppy answers, etc.). I did this and it helped me during the interview.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Awesome thank you for the detailed info! Best of luck to you. I will def look through past threads. ?

I received my invite for the October interview in Henderson! I’m hoping for the South Jordan campus.

GPA: 3.56 (for both pre-reqs and overall)

TEAS: 82%

Good luck to everyone!

Any other invites go out today?

Starting to get pretty discouraged. My adviser hasn't been answering my emails for weeks and I haven't received an invite to interview yet. This is despite the fact that people with lower stats have received invites..

@Mr.SGV

That happened to me. My advisor had left. I would recontact the school and go from there. That’s what I did and they set me up with a new advisor.

I feel you. My advisor made it sound like once she submitted my paperwork/app she was done, any questions I had she advised me to email the program email we sent our apps to... that was response after couple weeks without hearing from her. Have you tried calling or just showing up to campus if you’re in LV?

So apparently a response from my original adviser was in my spam folder as of yesterday, but all it said was to contact the enrollment department directly. I emailed them and got a pretty generic response back so it wasn't much of a help. They didn't even really answer my question, they just said that nobody is guaranteed admission or an interview. They also suggested I contact the enrollment director. I don't want to come off as "entitled" so I'm just gonna leave it at that. ? looks like it's a dead end.
