Roseman University 18-month Program?

U.S.A. Nevada

Hi everyone!

I saw a couple of thread regarding Roseman's nursing program but most of them are dated from 2012 or so. Anyways, I was curious if there is anyone currently in the 18 month program and how do they like it so far. I'm going to be starting there this August and just wanted to hear from current students.

I am in the same situation like you and i submitted my deposit already so i won't risk waiting another whole year to apply to nursing school. Most people say that roseman is a good school even though i have to admit that the 90% passing threshold is freaking me out but i am seriously considering attending. if the other school is your priority, you'll just have to put in your mind that you wasted $250 because you never know. I hope you do good on the other interview you have coming but secure your seat at Roseman as a back up.

I Only have a few tests left, I think one, and so far all of my tests have been multiple choice or select all that apply. I have had a couple true false questions. Getting a 90% is very doable because with each test you get a group test and that automatically adds Points to your score. Also, You are able to to "challenge" questions and that will save you too! I have never had to remediate is a block but you have more than three chances to pass so you should be all good. There's really nothing to worry about if you have any questions ask me.

They told us about the three chances that we have to pass but it's just the obligation not to fail that makes me worry a bit specially when you spend that kind of money to get an education. Are you allowed to record the lecture?

You definitely can do this! As a heads up, every assessment question is multiple choice, with a certain amount being select all that apply questions, to help prepare you for the NCLEX. I don't remember ever having true/false or matching questions. Also as of the class of 2017 (Aug '15 start) the tests are computerized. There are also blocks that don't have final assessments, instead there is a final group project or paper or something like that which you still have to get 90% on but that's pretty easy.

I hope you all have great groups! I was very lucky in that my group got along amazingly and group exams were really not stressful for us. We all had similar thought processes for the most part and when we did disagree on something, it wasn't a screaming match, which is nice.

How long is the tests?

As for working in a group that's the thing that scare me because sometimes you might end up in a group in which people don't get along with each other or someone is just not putting enough effort into it. How did you manage that?

Blocks 5/10 (Med/Surg 1 and 2) are 80 questions and they give you 2 hours. The rest of the blocks are 60 questions & 1.5 hours. Group exams are 1 hour regardless of test length.

My group got along with each other really well so my experience with difficult group situations is limited. For group exams, someone not putting in effort is really on them, because if they don't want to have a say in what answer to put on the test then they can deal with whatever grade they got. If enough people differ in what answer they pick for a question and really believe in their answers, sometimes you just have to go down to which answer was picked by the majority. For group projects, if someone is seriously slacking or people aren't getting along you might want to speak to the professor if it's interfering with your ability to do the project.

For what it's worth, no one in my class has ever NOT gotten group points. However, it has happened in the class after us.

Roseman specifies in their handbook that you need the written approval of an instructor to record lectures, but someone will usually just ask if the class can record at the beginning of a block to get permission. Definitely ask first though, at least in the Henderson campus some teachers will get mad if they see recorders but nobody asked for permission.

Has anyone received roommate information yet?

I haven't heard anything from them yet. It seems like they are focusing on getting everyone's financial aid processed.

@jna2

did you get an interview from the other school?

Hello,

Im curious.. is having a science GPA of 3.3-3.5 competitive? what about a 75% on the TEAS?

Hello, I know this is awhile ago, but I am interested in applying to the BSN program in Utah. I was wondering if I can ask you some questions regarding your experience there.

Thank you,

Margaret

hey Margaret. I am graduating from the BSN program in Utah in 2 weeks!! Id be happy to answer any questions you have. Here or facebook message me @ Heather Borg.

Are the teachers help you for home work and for the test? Are the school wort it?

They'll help you. It's not so much "homework" in the traditional sense (ATI is pretty much our equivalent of homework) but a lot of lecturing and studying. There's also lab components. But I really mean it when the teachers want you to succeed.
