Roseman University
Hi! I graduated from the Henderson campus. Your CNA experience will probably be a major benefit during fundamentals clinicals (essentially where we learned CNA skills), but after that it will probably level out with the non-experienced students during school. IMO, CNA experience is really beneficial once you start working. I want to say my prerequisite GPA was a 3.2 or 3.3. I think the best way to raise your chances of admission are to apply early since Roseman conducts rolling acceptances and multiple interviews. They usually email acceptances after each interview date. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions, or I will check back here if you can't send PMs.

Moving to California...
I think if I were you, I would work for a year in MA in your preferred specialty. Once you get to the one year mark, I suggest you start applying to jobs in whatever part of CA you'd ideally like to move to. I also suggest endorsing your license from MA to CA way before you start applying so it doesn't add any additional waiting time, maybe at the 6 month mark. You could get your BSN during this year to make yourself more competitive. I third not moving here until you have a job offer in hand.

Attending Roseman then return to California
I did stay in Vegas for the entirety of the program. There were a few in my class who left their families behind in CA, but it's only temporary. They made sure to visit their husbands/kids as much as possible. Also, less distractions I did the traditional BSN so I can't really provide much input on the ABSN; it's shorter in length but requires a lot of self-studying and independence as the lectures are all online. IMO in your position the ELM route seems more attractive, especially if they don't require entrance exams. But if you do end up taking the TEAS, apply to Roseman! I really learned and took away a lot from the program.

Attending Roseman then return to California
Not difficult at all, just involves some waiting due to the infamous slowness of the CA BRN. You have two options after graduating from Roseman: apply for the NV BON first then endorse your license to CA, or apply directly to the CA BRN. Most of the people in my class did the former; I did the latter. I should also point out that you can physically take the NCLEX anywhere in the country, it doesn't matter where, as long as you've directed your application to one state's specific board. A quick overview of my timeline (2016): Sometime in February (I forget when, sorry) - Did LiveScan fingerprinting in CA, sent transcripts from my other schools February 24 - Submitted my application to the California BRN online and paid. Everything is complete in my application except for my Roseman transcripts as I hadn't passed the ATI comp predictor/graduated yet March 2 - Registered for the NCLEX online and paid March 11 - Passed comp predictor, officially graduated March 18 - Transcripts mailed out to the CA BRN from RUHS June 9 - Received my ATT in email (finally!) June 10 - Took NCLEX June 14 - Officially an RN! (my name & license number showed up on BreEZe that morning)

Torrance Memorial New Grad Program Aug 2016
Same. I was told at the interview that we would hear back either way. A rejection email would be nice!

Torrance Memorial New Grad Program Aug 2016
I just called HR again, she said they were starting in September and she believed offers had already gone out.

Torrance Memorial New Grad Program Aug 2016
I wonder if they decided to go ahead with the original start date after all? There's not a lot of time left to do pre-employment stuff between now and the 29th. But I'm still trying to be optimistic :)

Waiting for ATT (May 2016 Grad)
You can use this website to complain: Public Comments, Complaints, and Suggestions - California Department of Consumer Affairs Just a heads up, back in June after complaining I was able to hear back from both the DCA and BRN. However, it seems as of right now people are not hearing anything back about their complaints.

Doubts on becoming an RN because i don't think i am smart enough..
Just work on getting admitted to the CSU of your choice. Worry about nursing later; at most, if not all CSUs, admission to the nursing program is a entirely separate process that will happen after you've completed all the pre-requisite classes, typically two years into your college education. Your high school GPA and SAT/ACT scores have ZERO bearing on getting into the nursing major. Focus on getting into a university and the rest will come later. I've been out of high school too long and I don't know what a "good" SAT/ACT score is anymore, but it sounds like you have a good high school GPA. Definitely speak to the admissions department at your prospective schools to see how you fare. If, for whatever reason, you can't get into a CSU, you can always transfer in to a CSU nursing program from community college.

Application Declined Need help
Is that 2.5 minimum science GPA for consideration in the programs? Just some options off the top of my head... - Retake your science prereqs for a higher grade. I'm assuming from 2.3 you got mostly C/C+ grades. This may require relocation if the school you go to doesn't allow you to retake classes where you got higher than a C. - Look for programs where the grade requirement is only getting a C in your prerequisites. Not sure what part of California you live in but LA County School of Nursing has a 2.0 minimum overall GPA and a minimum C for nursing prerequisites. Once again, may require relocation. - Get your LVN first and bridge to RN. Longer, but easier if you don't want to retake classes or relocate, and you can work as an LVN while getting your RN. - Get your CNA and get some experience to make your resume look better. Get a good grade on the TEAS if required for programs. Hope some of that helps. Good luck.

CHOC RN Residency / Fellowship Program - October 2016 Cohort
I'm glad they were really nice! Hearing that kind of takes some of the interview anxiety away for me haha. Was it a panel? How many people were there? Yes, I applied directly to CA when I graduated.

CHOC RN Residency / Fellowship Program - October 2016 Cohort
Hi everyone, I received a phone interview for NICU yesterday and was emailed to schedule an interview today. The manager I spoke on the phone with said they were still deciding who they wanted to invite for an interview & that they would be interviewing for the next three weeks. I applied for the new grad residency if that makes a difference. Also the phone interview completely threw me off as well, I wasn't expecting it at all. My submission status still says "completed." I graduated this past March, passed NCLEX in June. I went to school out of state but I am from CA.

Roseman University 18-month Program?
If you don't need to super remediate then that is your vacation time :) If you do super remediate, the remediation period is for making up clinicals.
