RN Salary in Dallas, Texas (2017)

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I am moving back to Dallas soon. More than likely in the summer of 2017. I have been a RN for 3 years with a BSN.

I'm just wondering what the salaries are like for nurses in Dallas, TX? I am also wondering which hospitals are nurse friendly? I would be willing to make less to be treated well. Like decent nurse to patient ratios and fair schedules.

Also, I am considering working for an agency. Does anyone know which agencies are good to work for in Dallas, TX? And please give reasons as to why you like them.

Thank you and much appreciation to all who respond.:)

Hello do you know what the base pay for a new grad is?

Charityjackson75,

This what I have heard through the grapevine for new grads at hospitals for acute care:

Dallas/Fort Worth: $22 to $25

Houston: $23 to $27

San Antonio: $19 to $23

Austin: $19 to $23

I don't know how true it is but considering what I have been getting I believe it is.

I did get an offer that I took. They not only matched my salary but gave me a small increase. Also, they gave me a sign on bonus and relocation which was not part of the post. It is with Baylor. Signed and sealed. I start in 3 weeks. $36 /hr

Just FYI for med/surg BSN 3+ yrs exp.:

UT Southwestern was offering $30 /hr and $40 /hr float but will only consider internal candidates for float pool

Medical City was offering $29 /hr and $44 /hr for float pool plus relocation and sign-on bonus

Baylor offering $31 to $36 /hr and $38 /hr float plus sign-on bonus and relocation

Good Luck to everyone! I hope this thread was a help. It did help me.

Thank you all!

Cool thanks for updating your own thread once you found the answer. It is very helpful. Are you working Days or Nights?

I am really shocked Baylor paid you the most. That does not sound like them at all.

I will be working nights.

I was shocked too. I was expecting UT Southwestern to offer the most but they didn't and they were kind of snobbish. Like you should be paying us to work here....lol

Don't get me wrong the recruiter was great but the managers...well they were kind of stuck on themselves. At least the ones I met with. I was thinking to myself. Wow..really. I turned down the offers straight away. Could not imagine working for people with that kind of attitude.

Actually, Medical City was very nice. I did actually consider working for them despite what everyone has said about them. But I just could not wrap my mind around making less than what I made when I first started out.

Anyone know about JPS in Fort Worth or Dallas Children's salaries?

Hello,

I am moving to Dallas in August and was wondering if you liked the job at Baylor? Any info is appreciated as far as culture, pay, relocation packages, and negotiating!

I am working at one hospital and teaching clinicals at the other 2. I can tell you that the best nurse friendly culture I have noticed was at Baylor. When you walk through the place, you see nurses smiling any place you visit. Magnet is a huge part of the culture and they are getting their 4th designation soon. Unfortunately happy nurses are not a common sight on inpatient units any longer. Compared to Medical City and UT, nurse to pt ratios are much lower at Baylor. But your pay will most likely be lower. UT and Medical City will pay much more and occasionally offer sign on bonuses. It's all really what you are looking for.

My biggest thing is being happy! I would really like to work in an ICU. I've applied for jobs at Grapevine, Plano, Denton, and Dallas.

Thought I'd add on a little bit to this post for anybody wanting to know more about pay at UT. Now I am not an RN, HOWEVER, I do talk to nurses on my floor. One nurse who had 1 year of experience, they willing to give her an bonus after her annual evaluation of $28 an hour minus shift diff (not sure what she's making right now but I assume that's a little better than she's making currently). If UT offers critical bonus for coming when the hospital is short (which is another reason why I like working for them versus Medical City as they had cut a lot of these bonuses off) for nurses, it can be a bigger bonus. Critical shift for RN=$150 + time and half; Double critical for RN= $300 + time and half. Benefits are better than other hospitals (on some things). Of course what floor you work on and how much experience also determines how much you will make as well. Hope some of this info helps if you're looking at UTSW.

Does anyone know someone who works at Parkland Memorial? If so how do they like it and what approx. is the pay and shift differential for a RN-BSN with BLS, ACLS and TNCC with 2 + years of experience. Thank you very much!

Hi! I'm also looking into moving to TX in dallas or anywhere around Dallas. I'm a RN with bachelor's degree. I have been a RN for 12 years now (if Philippines experience is counted - does anyone know?)

I see people here saying 3-4 years experience are paid 37-38/hr. How much is pay rate for 10-12 years experience (assuming they would consider my Philippines exp)?

Can you tell me what hospitals are worth working for - nurse friendly, fair wage and patient ratio. Thank you!

@jomajoam How many years of experience did you have when they offered you $38?
