RN Salary in Dallas, Texas (2017)

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I am moving back to Dallas soon. More than likely in the summer of 2017. I have been a RN for 3 years with a BSN.

I'm just wondering what the salaries are like for nurses in Dallas, TX? I am also wondering which hospitals are nurse friendly? I would be willing to make less to be treated well. Like decent nurse to patient ratios and fair schedules.

Also, I am considering working for an agency. Does anyone know which agencies are good to work for in Dallas, TX? And please give reasons as to why you like them.

Thank you and much appreciation to all who respond.:)

Specializes in ICU.

UT southwestern.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

Most hospital systems in the D/FW area would pay in the high $20s to low $30s per hour ballpark range to an RN with three years of acute care experience.

Thank you TheCommuter. That is helpful.

Bottomed out why do you like UT Southwestern. Are they nurse friendly or pay better?

Specializes in ICU.

I knew staff and travelers, they all liked it. Free healthcare for staff members. Then free healthcare for life when you retire.

I was offered $38 dollars @ UT Southwestern if that helps.

Jomajoma,

Thank you so much that helps very much! What I am making now is close to that. I make $37.65.

How do you like it there and why?

Actually, I do not work there. I interviewed at UTSW and Dallas Presby back in november. But, I actually decided to stay where I am for the time being (my hospital begged me to stay:() at Medical City Dallas. UTSW is a beautiful campus, and it looks like the nurses there are treated very well. I liked Dallas Presby also. They were offering a little above $35.00. And they had great shift differentials!! I have 4 years experience.

Basically, you have the upper hand here. Do not settle for the first offer. It looks like there is a major shortage of experienced RN's in the DFW. Every hospital is short. My hospital is even offering relocation packages on top of a sign on bonus. I have never seen them do that before. Good luck, and let me know if you need any more info. :))

$38/hr base (excluding differentials)?

RNBSN1000,

Are you saying that $38/hr is what I should expect at all the hospitals in the Dallas area for a starting pay as a RN with 3-4 years experience? And in that case who treats their nurses the best? Such as nurse to patient ratios and fair scheduling, etc? What I a asking is; which Medical organization is nice to us? :shy:

I'm just clarifying what a competitive base pay is in a major city in Texas nurse_swan. I'm doing my research on pay, benefits and how medical organizations treat their RNs.
