  1. I will be working nights. I was shocked too. I was expecting UT Southwestern to offer the most but they didn't and they were kind of snobbish. Like you should be paying us to work here....lol Don't get me wrong the recruiter was great but the managers...well they were kind of stuck on themselves. At least the ones I met with. I was thinking to myself. Wow..really. I turned down the offers straight away. Could not imagine working for people with that kind of attitude. Actually, Medical City was very nice. I did actually consider working for them despite what everyone has said about them. But I just could not wrap my mind around making less than what I made when I first started out.
  2. Charityjackson75, This what I have heard through the grapevine for new grads at hospitals for acute care: Dallas/Fort Worth: $22 to $25 Houston: $23 to $27 San Antonio: $19 to $23 Austin: $19 to $23 I don't know how true it is but considering what I have been getting I believe it is. I did get an offer that I took. They not only matched my salary but gave me a small increase. Also, they gave me a sign on bonus and relocation which was not part of the post. It is with Baylor. Signed and sealed. I start in 3 weeks. $36 /hr Just FYI for med/surg BSN 3+ yrs exp.: UT Southwestern was offering $30 /hr and $40 /hr float but will only consider internal candidates for float pool Medical City was offering $29 /hr and $44 /hr for float pool plus relocation and sign-on bonus Baylor offering $31 to $36 /hr and $38 /hr float plus sign-on bonus and relocation Good Luck to everyone! I hope this thread was a help. It did help me. Thank you all!
  3. I also have another job PRN which pays me $37.65. I was hoping to make at least what my full-time job pays me now. Fingers crossed . I've interviewed with 3 managers at UT Southwestern. Just for the record it is not just your experience that make the difference but what area you work in. The Critical Care areas make more and some of the Specialties like surgery do too. Just FYI. Also, Medical City was willing to pay a sign on Bonus plus relocation. I couldn't do it for the hourly rate though. I've found that most Hospitals in Dallas want to Pay a BSN with 3yrs $29-$31 an hour for Med/Surg.
  4. ford1956, I spoke to UT Southwestern and they do pay more an hour for weekender/two day alternative (TDA). And UT Southwestern pays better than everyone else plus better benefits. I hope I get an offer. The worst pay has been Medical City. I spoke with the recruiter at Medical City Plano and they wanted to pay me less than what I make now or when I first started actually. Baylor at least is matching my Salary but UT Southwestern is offering more if the manager/s wants me. I work for the VA I make $73,381 a yr which is roughly $35 an hour. Medical City is offering $29 an hour. I'm OK with a matching salary but I will not accept less. Who does that?
  5. ford1956, I'm speaking with a UT Southwestern recruiter. I'll ask this up coming week and post in here her response.
  6. Bottomed out, Oh Wow! Thanks! Mental Note, stay away from Medical City Dallas.
  7. Jomajoma, I sent you a private message. I want to ask how do you like working for Medical City Dallas? I have heard some awful things. Thanks in advance!
  8. RNBSN1000, Are you saying that $38/hr is what I should expect at all the hospitals in the Dallas area for a starting pay as a RN with 3-4 years experience? And in that case who treats their nurses the best? Such as nurse to patient ratios and fair scheduling, etc? What I a asking is; which Medical organization is nice to us?
  9. Jomajoma, Thank you so much that helps very much! What I am making now is close to that. I make $37.65. How do you like it there and why?
  10. Bottomed out why do you like UT Southwestern. Are they nurse friendly or pay better?
  11. Thank you TheCommuter. That is helpful.
  12. I am moving back to Dallas soon. More than likely in the summer of 2017. I have been a RN for 3 years with a BSN. I'm just wondering what the salaries are like for nurses in Dallas, TX? I am also wondering which hospitals are nurse friendly? I would be willing to make less to be treated well. Like decent nurse to patient ratios and fair schedules. Also, I am considering working for an agency. Does anyone know which agencies are good to work for in Dallas, TX? And please give reasons as to why you like them. Thank you and much appreciation to all who respond.:)
  13. What home health agency do you work for? What is the starting pay?
  14. I finished the program on December 4, 2015. I highly recommend the program. It was totally doable. They were realistic with expectations of working nurses and didn't try and overload you with school work. The Capstone was not bad. There was one quiz. 2 discussion questions. An abstract. A letter to the facility. The Capstone paper. And a poster. It was not bad and I found the teachers to be very fair. I'm glad I found this school. Good luck to all of you.
  15. Yes. ULL does accept CLEP credits. I took the English Lit CLEP. Passed and ULL accepted the credits. I was going to do LSU online English Lit but thought I'd give the CLEP a try since it was much cheaper. I am glad I did. I used InstantCert to study. InstantCert was all I used. 95% of the material on the CLEP was included in InstantCert. I could not have passed without it. On to my Capstone now.
