RN Salary in Dallas, Texas (2017)
Actually, I do not work there. I interviewed at UTSW and Dallas Presby back in november. But, I actually decided to stay where I am for the time being (my hospital begged me to stay:() at Medical City Dallas. UTSW is a beautiful campus, and it looks like the nurses there are treated very well. I liked Dallas Presby also. They were offering a little above $35.00. And they had great shift differentials!! I have 4 years experience. Basically, you have the upper hand here. Do not settle for the first offer. It looks like there is a major shortage of experienced RN's in the DFW. Every hospital is short. My hospital is even offering relocation packages on top of a sign on bonus. I have never seen them do that before. Good luck, and let me know if you need any more info. :))

Moving from NY to TX
What area of nursing are you in? ICU/medsurg? Frisco is a great place to raise a family. We moved from new York 5 years ago and settled in McKinney. I work in Dallas at Medical City. I work day shift, so traffic is not bad at 6 in the morning. Pay range should be around 30 dollars. PM for more information.

Relocating to McKinney area
Hello, I live in Mckinney and love it!! I am also from Southern California myself (Gardena/Torrance). Anywhoo, there is a major shortage of critical care nurses in the area, so you do have a shot of getting a decent pay. Maybe around 35? My advice to you is to contact a staffing company. I will PM you a contact. I work at Medical city dallas, which is around 25 minutes from my house. If you like, i can also give you our HR contact there too. Good luck. Let me know if I can be of help.

RN with 3 year Med/Tele Exp Relocating to Dallas/ Houston
Helli mikie1317, I just applied to every new grad program in the dfw area, and just prayed. I was so lucky to get in my position. Just have a good resume. From my experience, they are not looking for ACLS, you can always get that when u r employed. Just make sure your BLS is current.

Sugarland is a nice place to live. Frisco is very nice also. It is right next door to us here in Plano. I would say that Sugarland is more diverse, but they are pretty much the same. If you end up in Sugarland, there is one school, I can't think of the name right now, that is one of the top high schools in the state. You may want to be near there so you can be zoned to that school. Good luck on your search and welcome to Texas!

RN with 3 year Med/Tele Exp Relocating to Dallas/ Houston
Have you visited both cities yet? I would second a previous post and say find a job then find a house/apt closeby. Traffic in both cities suck. I live in Plano, which is the north dallas area. I really like it here, but it is on the tad bit expensive side, and probably not as diverse as you want it to be. Its diverse don't get me wrong, but doesn't compare to places like Arlington, grand prarie, duncanville. Cedar Hill might be your best bet, diverse, and good schools. Also irving is nice also. If you are looking to come up north, plano, allen, frisco, and mckinney are great. Everything is nice and new, and the schools here are top notch. I work at medical city in dallas and get paid almost 29 bucks, and I just started there last October as a new grad. Presby pays well I heard, especially the one in plano. Good luck on your journey. P.S. I used to live in Miami too! Went to grad school at Barry and lived in North Miami Beach. I sure do miss it sometimes. Especially being a stone throw away from the water.

1 Year Since Graduation & Still No Job! Now Expecting First Child! :) Advice
I am actually in your situation right now. I graduated may 2011. Took a break from getting my license, because I got married a couple months after and had to move from ny to nj into my hubby's house. After I finally got my license, I had no luck in nj or ny trying to get a job. Then my husband hits me with a whammy telling me that he accepted a job transfer to dallas! We moved in may and i had only 1 interview, which I ended up not getting. Then surprise, we are pregnant! So just earlier this month, out of the blue I get contacted to interview for a residency that I applied to in may. I was scared because like you I had the same question. But I decided to go, and they hired me on the spot! I am starting this monday, and I am 18 weeks!! I am still not showing yet, but I plan to tell my manager in the next 2 weeks. Im scared to, but I have to come clean at some point. Congrats on ur pregnancy. Its a wild ride, but I wouldnt trade it for the world!
