RN Salary in Dallas, Texas (2017)

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I am moving back to Dallas soon. More than likely in the summer of 2017. I have been a RN for 3 years with a BSN.

I'm just wondering what the salaries are like for nurses in Dallas, TX? I am also wondering which hospitals are nurse friendly? I would be willing to make less to be treated well. Like decent nurse to patient ratios and fair schedules.

Also, I am considering working for an agency. Does anyone know which agencies are good to work for in Dallas, TX? And please give reasons as to why you like them.

Thank you and much appreciation to all who respond.:)

Jomajoma,

I sent you a private message. I want to ask how do you like working for Medical City Dallas? I have heard some awful things.

Thanks in advance!

Specializes in ICU.

MCD horrible benefits. on call rate is 1.50 an hour.

Bottomed out,

Oh Wow! Thanks! Mental Note, stay away from Medical City Dallas.

I noticed that UT Southwestern had a weekend option. Does anyone know if they pay more per hour for this, or if it is just same pay for different schedule. Thanks

ford1956,

I'm speaking with a UT Southwestern recruiter. I'll ask this up coming week and post in here her response.

It's more. I know someone that did that. No idea of the pay. UT southwestern uses Epic for charting.

Medical City Hospitals use the black screen Meditech with the F keys :dead:. Never worked at an HCA hospital never plan on it.

Specializes in Critical Care; Cardiac; Professional Development.

$38/hr is not common base pay in DFW for a three year nurse. More like low $20s to just over $30. UTSW may pay better, not sure, but you would not get anywhere near that anywhere else really.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing what you find out.

Baylor will put you at high 29. Methodist will put you at mid 30's. At Methodist if you do float pool full-time it's 42 for days, nights 46.

ford1956,

I spoke to UT Southwestern and they do pay more an hour for weekender/two day alternative (TDA). And UT Southwestern pays better than everyone else plus better benefits. I hope I get an offer. The worst pay has been Medical City. I spoke with the recruiter at Medical City Plano and they wanted to pay me less than what I make now or when I first started actually. Baylor at least is matching my Salary but UT Southwestern is offering more if the manager/s wants me. I work for the VA I make $73,381 a yr which is roughly $35 an hour.

Medical City is offering $29 an hour. I'm OK with a matching salary but I will not accept less. Who does that?

I also have another job PRN which pays me $37.65. I was hoping to make at least what my full-time job pays me now. Fingers crossed :nailbiting:. I've interviewed with 3 managers at UT Southwestern.

Just for the record it is not just your experience that make the difference but what area you work in. The Critical Care areas make more and some of the Specialties like surgery do too. Just FYI.

Also, Medical City was willing to pay a sign on Bonus plus relocation. I couldn't do it for the hourly rate though.

I've found that most Hospitals in Dallas want to Pay a BSN with 3yrs $29-$31 an hour for Med/Surg.

Nurse_Swan, Thank you very much for the information. Hope it all goes well for you and you get the job you want.
