How do I know a hospital is HCA? I'm looking to work around or nearby Dallas (Frisco, Plano, Irving, Fort Worth). What hospitals should I avoid applying to?

This may sound like a stupid question but a few months ago, I applied for RN endorsement of my Arkansas (compact state) license to Texas, sent all the requirements and paid all the fees. I expected everything would be smooth until TX BON sent me a letter saying I still require a proof of Texas address before they will give me a license. I did declare on the primary state of residence form that my primary state is AR. I am not moving to Texas until a few months from now. I wanted to process my license beforehand and get a multistate, but it seems like they didn't even give me a single state license. On the list of requirements, they marked two documents as lacking: Texas Driver's License and another Declaration of Primary State of Residence form (I'm guessing they want me to tick the part that declares Texas as my primary state). Correct me if I'm wrong but am I not eligible for a temporary single state license even when I am not living in Texas as yet? All requirements have been submitted and accepted except for the ones they marked red on the list (driver's license and residence form). It was 3-4 months ago when I submitted the requirements together with payments. Now, when I rechecked my status on TX BON site, nothing comes up as if I never applied. My question now is.... if I have to re-apply all over again, do I need to retake the Jurisprudence exam??? Or will I just send them a copy of my certificate of passing the exam? I don't see any expiration date on the certificate. Has this happened to anyone? What am I missing? I'm not sure what happened here. Last time I called TX BON regarding the requirements, they told me I had until September 8, 2018 to comply ALL the requirements. I hope their website is just acting up and temporarily glitching. I'm kind of worried now. My documents have to sent all the way from Philippines so it was a lot of work and a lot of waiting for all the requirements to be complied.

What hospitals in Dallas (and surrounding Dallas) are under HCA? I am currently looking to move to Texas and apply for a new job. I wouldn't want to get into HCA without even realizing it.

I'm a Canadian citizen and have been working in US as a RN for over 2 years now under TN status/visa. For those of you who are not familiar with TN visa, it's a working permit that valid for a maximum of 3 years. My 3 years with my present employer will be done this year and I don't plan on renewing it with them. I am planning to move to Texas this summer or fall. I have no family, no kids, no other responsibilities and so I am open to any area in Texas. I'm thinking of Dallas or somewhere around the area. What cities and hospitals would you suggest? Which hospitals pay the most? Which ones treat their staff well? Good benefits? Do they offer relocation and sign on bonus? Are there hospitals in Texas that DO NOT hire or sponsor TN workers (or working visas in general?) I've been reading and have read of positive and negative things about Presbyterian, Methodist, Baylor, Parkland and UTSW. Most of the threads I've read that are close to my questions are posts from at least 5 years ago. Would appreciate any input. Thank you!

Hi! I know this thread is a few years old, so I'm hoping to see any updates between these two hospitals with regards to pay rates, benefits, reputation, and any other changes that has happened for the past years. I am looking to move to Dallas area (haven't decided which city I'll live in as yet. I am prioritizing work), I'm a RN, BSN for 12 years now. Hospital experience would total to approx. 9-10 years. I have worked in nursing homes, retirement home and clinic between 2011-2015. I'm not sure if they only count HOSPITAL experiences only, and am also clueless on how much salary I should expect given my experience. Any information would be helpful. Thank you!

How has your move been? I am hoping I can get some input from this site as I am planning to move to Texas as well and looking into Dallas area (in and outside Dallas). I am a RN, BSN with 12 years experience. I have not spent enough time in Texas to be familiar enough with their hospitals and what they offer. Where do you work now? What were the salary, benefits and other offers you got from the hospitals you applied to (assuming you applied to more than just one). What made you turn down the ones you did, and what made you choose the employer you have now? Any advice and input would be greatly appreciated. :)

I have not yet decided which city I will move to but I am looking more into Dallas or nearby Dallas. Can anyone give me any hint on how much salary I should expect (or demand)? Any advice on which cities and hospitals I should apply to?

Hi! I'm also looking into moving to TX in dallas or anywhere around Dallas. I'm a RN with bachelor's degree. I have been a RN for 12 years now (if Philippines experience is counted - does anyone know?) I see people here saying 3-4 years experience are paid 37-38/hr. How much is pay rate for 10-12 years experience (assuming they would consider my Philippines exp)? Can you tell me what hospitals are worth working for - nurse friendly, fair wage and patient ratio. I'm looking into moving TX early next year. I have no specific city to move to but I've been looking into Dallas or anywhere around Dallas such as Plano. I'm mainly looking for a city that isn't too small (I moved to this tiny town from Toronto so I would like to have a balanced atmosphere - not too tiny and not too crazy either), and work in a hospital that treats their nurses well, pays decently, and live in an area with a reasonable or low(er) cost of living. I see the posts here were from years ago. Any updates or ideas? Would be good to hear different opinions and tips from people who live and work in TX.

The last post here is back in 2014. I'm a RPN in Ontario. I'm looking to see how the jobs are for RPNs in Alberta? I understand based on the posts here that there aren't a lot of jobs in AB especially for outside applicants. Is it still the same now? How about Fort McMurray? After the horrible incident with the fire, are there any increase in job hirings now? Is the salary any better in AB than ON? Is it difficult to transfer my Ontario license to AB?

I am a Canadian citizen, but am an international educ nurse (Philippines).

I am a canadian (by immigrating) but I have been working as a RN in USA for over a year now. I have lived in canada 4 years ago and moved to US last 2015 since I have always had my US license. I graduated nursing in Philippines and passed NCLEX before I moved to Canada. I love canada and I am considering going back in a year or two. I am wondering if it's easier to get the RN license in Canada considering I am holding a US license with experience as compared to an internationally educated nurse without North American experience who is planning to move to Canada? A friend told me she read that an US NCLEX passer does not have to take the CRNE (and I am assuming Canada has been using NCLEX for their nursing students now?) Pls correct me if I am wrong. I've been reading and I am not sure if I understood it right. I am a NCLEX passer and a current RPN in Canada. I passed my NCLEX 2007. As stated above, if I apply for RN license in Canada NOW, I am not included in the excemption to resit NCLEX-RN because I applied after September 18, 2014 and my previous passing of NCLEX holds no significance now? What are my options? Thanks for any clarifications.

I am a Filipino-Canadian trying to apply for TN status as a RN to America. I am about to request letters from previous employers. 1. What are the necessary contents in the letter from the letter? 2. I am RN in Philippines. Should i get a new letter from my employer in Philippines or is my old certificate of employment dated 2011 okay? 3. I am only a RPN in Canada and have had a few employers since I got licensed here. Is my RPN experience relevant to my application? Will border question my occupation for the past years in Canada as not equivalent to the current job I got in America? 4. Will my 6 years RN job in Philippines enough to back up as my experience if recent RPN experience would not be acknowledged?
