Hello
I am new here... my case.. I finish my BSN in our country PHIL. but i am not a LICENSE. i am here at the USA with GC holder.
now, i am planning to take an NCLEX. i am looking what states that i am qualified to take an NCLEX. because here in our place INDIANA they required a license from my country, so i am not qualified here.. I heard that some states doesn't need an RN.. is there anyone here to answer my questions?
Is CALIFORNIA doesn't need an RN?? is that true??
thank u
@Shiela - As a US Citizen since the age 0f 7years old. Originally Filipino citizen i may add. I came to the philippines 2006 and met my future wife. I petitioned her using the K-1 fiance route and brought her to california recently.
Her situation is similar to you. When the petition was approved, and after getting married in the states. And being converted to a GREENCARD holder, she applied to the BON-CA. They Required her to have her LOCAL License because she was not yet a CITIZEN when she graduated from college.
She eventually took the local boards (in pinas) and passed. and was easily approved to take the CA-BON NCLEX exam here in california.
Oh ya I forgot to mention that the BON-CA easily accepted my letter of reconsideration because being a NON-pilipino Citizen + being a US Citizen, I was not allowed to sit for the exam. So i was easily allowed to sit in for the NCLEX-CA exam with jaz my diploma and transcripts from pinas.
@everyone else with any info: Being a new grad nclex passer I'm currently having hard time finding a job here in california........and i want to move to another state. For more Strict States that Requires A LOCAL LICENSE (philippines-RN).
MY DILEMA is that I was not allowed to take the Local Licensure Exam for RN in the philippines because I was no longer a Pilipino Citizen. I am a U.S. Citizen since 7yrs old (converted). PRC rejected my application to sit for the boards.
Anybody here experienced my same problem? will Other States accept my REASONING to forgo the Local-license for foreign trained nurse because I wasn't Eligible to sit in for said reasons.
help guys?

Of course, you are not a foreign nurse; you are an American citizen and were a Citizen before obtaining your degree, no state will demand a Phil-RN license from you in order to be licensed there.
However, if you were educated in the Philippines you will have to comply with Credential Evaluations or CGFNS exam requirements since you were educated outside the USA.
hi! i have a question sorry i know this is not related about the topic being discussed here.. can somebody Please help me. my husband is working on his NCP and is confused on which is the priority of these two... RISK for infection or Sleep pattern disturbance.. i told him its Sleep pattern bcoz the prob. is already there then follwed by this Risk for infection.. am i ryt? i hope to get a response.. THANK YOU!! :)
i have here a scenario.. pt. is admitted complaining of leg pain, test showed positive for DVT what will be the priority nursing diagnoses RISK for impaired gas exchange r/t possibility of dislodged thrombus Or Acute Pain r/t venous insufficiency... for me i would say the priority would be the latter bt for him its not... Help!
I would like to update my application to CA to take the NCLEX. I got a letter from the CA-BON just today its says that .. this is to inform you that CA-BON has evaluated your application and you have been found to take the NCLEX-RN - to those people here that would like to take an NCLEX-RN with out the license from your home country, there still a hope for that. I take 2x NLE at philippines, i failed. I am here in the states already. now I need to study2x to passed this exam. thanks god for the first step.

The failure rate for foreign nurses taking the NCLEX is very high...about 50% fail. On top of that April1st the test is going to be scored higher. The nurses I know, don't study more than a few weeks and pass at 75. At least the nurses I know don't struggle with the exam. I mention the NLE since usually if students breeze through one exam they usually can breeze through another. NCLEX is the same exam no matter where you take it.
Jobs are tight, any advantage you can get would put you ahead and networking in health community would assist you in passing the boards and getting a job.
