Pretty soon I will be attending my schools rn orientation for new students. It will be 8 hours long and I have no idea what to expect. Is there anyone who has gone through this and would like to give me any tips as to what to expect? Thanks!

Take notes! You'll be given a lot of information and some of it won't be typed up for you to go back to.

Blah! Enjoy the excitement while you can! USF has these every semester and after three I am tired of them haha. The very first will be about what to expect with labs, classes, clinicals, dress codes, times, etc. Mine also included a lot of info on being successful in nursing school, time management, staying healthy... etc.

I wish my school would set the orientation date already! I am so anxious and ready to knock some of these things out, like medical and dental screenings, background check, drug tests, uniform purchases, etc etc....... I'm getting antsy!!!!

With our exceptance letter they gave us our purchase list & how to start the ImmuniTrax process & orientation date. I had all my stuff done that same day i got my letter lol. That sucks u gotta wait. Our orientation is 8hrs also.

Me too! We've don't a background check already but that's about it.
When is you orientation? Did they give u an agenda of what you'll be doing? My school didn't they just said a light breakfast and lunch will be provided...
I know, it does suck! I know some of the things I have to get done but without the forms for health and dental it doesn't make much sense to even make an appointment if I don't know when orientation is. Our application board decided this year they would take applicants in a three stage process, so that people who were already done with all pre reqs like me would have first slots available, then they had a second set of applicants due by June 1, then another set by July something. I just hope they don't wait til the third set to arrange our orientation.
My orientation is the 13th of August. Classes start the 19th. We haven't got the time or what to expect at orientation. The acceptance letter said that we'll get a letter telling us more sbout orientation after the day all our stuff is due which is July 15th. Which makes since because if you don't get everything in by the July 15th due date then they'll have time to put someone from the alternate in your place before orientation. So they give you a month to do all your stuff then a month to get ready for your orientation day. But our acceptance letter has everything we need except the time & what orientation is about.
They should give you all the forms so you have time in case something comes up. Weird!!
Ours is all online. You pay a company that they contract to upload all your stuff. I logged in with the code the school gave & they asked when & where I wanted to do my drug test I printed the form & went. The next day my test was in and emailed to me and that company. The immunizations were in-putted by me then I uploaded the records to prove what I in-putted was right. They verified & sent me a message saying i was good. It was easy that's why it took me a day lol. The only thing I'm waiting for is the finger print since I had to call the school to be put on a state list or something. But other then that it was easy.
And we know what the rotation is because its the same all year whether you start fall or spring. They start with pharm & fundamentals. So that's a good thing cuz I know what to read up on.

Yes, on certifiedbackground.com, we don't know our package code or anything til orientation. I'm going to get my hep B started and I already have CPR, so all I will have to do ar immunizations/titers, certiifedbackground once they give us the package code at orientation, and I can't really do medical and dental until I get the forms at orientation. I wish they would schedule it already!
