  1. I got my official acceptance yesterday morning too!
  2. I had my interview May 5th as well so this week I’m expecting to hear back something hopefully. My application online says I am admitted, but wasn’t sure if that was a fluke or something. I’ve been getting emails now to submit my immunization records. One of my friends interviewed on the 11th and her application still says under review.
  3. Be deligent and ask questions regarding meds if you have them. Ask questions about anything g you need clarifying. I recently started in the PICU after working with adults and it is quite different. I sometimes feel like a nuisance, but ultimately it's about the patient. I haven't had one experience at TCH where a nurse hasn't been willing to help or provide valuable information. Even the more experienced nurses have questions. No one knows everything! You'll learn a lot. Good luck :)
  4. Good luck in the PCU! It can be a very stressful unit. Do forget to ask for help when you need it and there are plenty of nurses to give advice or assistance. I oriented there for a brief period :)
  5. I had two interviews last week that went well. The nursing manager was not there, but the nurse house manager was for both interviews. She was very pleased with me, offered me a position, and said she wants me to start Monday if possible. I accepted. She had already spoken to the nurse manager also who has been away for personal reasons. Last I spoke to HR they said they were waiting to hear from "them" (I think the nurse manager who has been absent) to decide 'what to do with me". She also said she would call me as soon as she heard anything. That was Tuesday. I called today trying to speak to either managers and they were not there. Should I call HR again? I am eager to start my orientation Monday and am worried since I haven't heard anything in a week. Am I worrying over nothing?
  6. Thank you for the help! That sounds perfect.
  7. I have two interviews this week on the same day. One is a second interview with a hospital and the other is a first interview later that afternoon with a different hospital (new grad program). I'm wondering if I am offered the position for the first job while I'm there, do I accept or do I tell them I have another interview later that day? I don't think they'll offer me the job while I am there, but I would like to be mentally prepared just in case. I am leaning on just accepting it and later declining if I recieve an offer from the other hospital since that is ideally the one I would rather be at. Thanks for the help!
  8. Thank you! I'm so excited!
  9. We are! Thank you!
  10. thank you!
  11. I found out today that I passed the dreaded NCLEX with 150 questions! A lot of my classmates so far have passed with 75 and reading on the forum it seemed many people passed with 75 or 265 which worried me for about two days. I felt terrible about not getting the minimum test score or even the max Anyways, this is what I did to prepare. I studied about 3 and a half weeks total. I did the entire NCBSN course through my school for free and then paid $45 again to do only the questions which there is about 1,350 of them. I did 150 questions a day for 9 days. My school also offered the live Hurst review at a discount so I did that to review content. I spent my time re-reading the book, watching one or two lectures a day and doing questions. The weekend before my exam I did Hurst Q review for 4 days and on the 5th day I did two of them which was not wise and completely over loaded my brain. To supplement I did some free Kaplan exams from their website that were 50 questions and used NCLEX Mastery. The day before my exam I reviewed some more content likes labs, mnemonics (which really helped on may exam), and did some more mastery questions. I made sure not to over do the studying and went to bed early since my exam was at 8 am. I hope this helps! Also if you get 75, 150, or 265 questions. Remember everything will be ok :)
  12. It's usually within 48 hours.
  13. Congrats on your test and getting 75 questions!! I bet you did great! I took my exam this morning too and got around 140 questions which was stressful! I had almost all priority, a lot of SATA, 1 drag and drop, 4-5 exhibits, and about 6 EKGs, which was awful. Now it's time for the dreaded wait for those results!
  14. 1. I've been using NCBSN and Hurst mostly. My program required us to do the NCBSN prior to graduating and Hurst was offered to us at a discount at our school. 2. I loved NCBSN to review specific content, it is a lot of reading though which may not be the most effective for learning. However, they also have a ton of excellent nclex questions. Hurst is great for a content review, they have videos and the book has been helpful. Their questions are also pretty difficult and have been great practice so far. A lot of people swear by Kaplan or Hurst. You have to pick what you think is right for you. I've used Hurst and a little bit of Kaplan because they also have a free app with Qbank questions.
