So I've decided to change my major again. I"ve changed from pharmacy to Computer Science and now to Nursing. Some people might think this is just spurt of the moment that I want to join Nursing. That maybe true, but for now I'm really interested in this career. I DO feel good when I help someone out for certain. Mainly, I like nursing is because of the ability to make money at every steps (CNA - LPN - RN - NP etc). I have some questions please answer these:
1. How hard is nursing compare to pharmacy and CS major in schoolwise (grades etc). Do you need like really high GPA?
2. How about working environment?
3. This is my plan in order, CNA - LPN - RN - NP, is this good in term of financial wise since my family is poor so I want to be able to support myself as soon as possible.
4. How competitive are the nursing programs in CALI? Is it just apply to becoming RN and other higher levels or it also apply to CNA and LPN too.
5. Please rate Nursing major, pharmacist, and Computer Science major in term of schoolwise.
1-10 1= easiest, 2= hardest To me I think Nursing is at 6, Pharmacy is at 8, and Computer Science is at 8 or 9 lol.

Sounds like you do not know what to do? If you are not keen about taking allot of chemistry, math, and biology, pharmacist will not be a possibility. Additionally, you will most likely need a doctor of nurse practice to be a NP by the time you are at that point. Either way, be ready for a marathon.

i am having bachelor in pharmacy(foriegn graduate) now planing to get in to nursing.i dont know about computers but in pharmacy you need to study lot of chemistry along with science.chemistry means not general chemistry mainly organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry which mainly deals with the structure of the drug and structure active relationship of the drug(S.A.R) you need to remember all the structures of the drugs.in my coure we also focused on manfacturing of the drug.but in nursing you dont have chemistry part you will only have science part like pharmacology etc etc .overall i will rate nursing 7 pharmacy 7.5.it all depends up on individual if you like chemistry then pharmacy is a breeze. getting into pharmacy schools is very competitive you need to have very good GPA. and get good score in PCAT .even then you are not guaranteed admission for me i don't want to wait one year for admission still it is a probability which i hate. and even if i get admission i need to study for 4 years at least and spend like 200k for college fees books etc but for nursing the probability of not getting admission is less.because there are lots of schools that offer this course and there are lots of ways to get RN license but in pharmacy there is only one way to get the license (pharmd) .i can even go for accelerated degree because i already have bachelor degree which just need little over one year to complete.and the pay difference is couple of grand which i can manage by doing little extra work .

i suggest you shadow some people to get an idea of the job. it doesn't sound like you really know what you want to do and nursing is something you should really see first hand to decide

I gave up pharmacy school to be a nurse. The pay can be as good in some RN jobs, is great anyway even when it is less than PharmD, school isn't as long, overall debt when leaving school isn't as high, and there are a bazillion and one nursing jobs to choose from.

My sister is a pharmacist. I'm a nurse. I sometimes wish I would've gone her route.

I think pharmacists have it easier than nurses. Nursing is stressful and physically demanding. Plus, you are exposed to more danger as a nurse as well.

Nursing school was a breeze compared to what my husband is putting himself through for his PharmD. I pity him. Of course, he is in a 3 year program, so it's compressed.
depends. what do you want? i wouldn't want to do pharmacy work. especially in retail. nursing isn;t bad, though. and it's even fun sometimes. i like battling death in the ICU
i think just going for the RN in a community college is the quickest way. you can work as a tech while you do it. that's what i did.
i'm not in cali.
i agree that computer science is an 8-9. pharmacy is right up there. and i also agree that nursing school is about a 6.

In addition, the concept of the "clinical pharmacist" is starting to make waves as the profession appears to be pushing into more of a clinical focus.
