In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.
One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.
The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.
Online Nursing Degree Programs at Thomas Edison State University
I ended up choosing U of Wyoming. Cost was a big factor. Also, I was able to start after my first year of the ADN program. I should be done about six months after getting my RN. One course does require a local preceptor (COmmunity Health), but I don't think it will be difficult for me to find a placement.
I would love to hear what you think of the program. This thread was so helpful to me because I was thinking about doing this within the next 1-2 years. I am a new grad just passed boards 2 months ago so I need a break. kudos to you for doing it all at once!! This one sounds like about the best to me too. Because of the cost and living right beside the sate (even though I won;t have to travel)
My boyfriend can confirm it gives me narcolepsy. : ) I wish I hadn't resold my book from the time I started to take it - I could use it when I can't sleep!
I hear you about the sciences. While I recognize their worth, I don't think I could handle another science course. I had so much A&P and biology in preparation for my nursing program that I am burned out:wink2:
i just applied to nova southeastern university for the rn-bsn online program. the program begins this january and you can finish in 18 months. http://www.nova.edu
If you don't care where your degree comes from then pick the cheapest. If you care about the prestige of the degree then consider Regis University (http://www.regis.edu). You also can go directly to a MSN from a ASN/ADN and skip several classes in the process. The college network has books that bring the costs down too. Regis will call and welcome you and I find the staff very good. Regis is a Jesuit school like Georgetown and Loyolla (sp?).
Zippy
p.s. I am a current student of Regis. I checked them out on US news and world report and they are 20 something in the ranking.
So I was hoping that some of you could tell me something about Fort Hayes State Univ. Its really cheap for tuition, and I will be taking it out of state. Is it a good program and I want to finish it really fast and I'm willing to postpone my social life for longer if I can finish it quicker.
So anything will be a HUGE help.
Are you doing the online program?
Thanks

I am in a Regis program, yes. I'm not going MSN though. Does that answer your question? The big seller for me was their program was real and they have a great ranking from US news and world report.
I have not looked at Regis but i will. Cost is a big factor for me because it will be coming out of my pocket and i have other expenses to deal with so i am looking for a program that is cheap, accredited and i can complete my BSN in 12-18 months. Preferably, 12 months. I have tons of credits and i have looked at some schools that are asking for the one course that i havent taken. Sometimes, i think they make it harder for you to return to school. I have been an RN for 19 yrs and one school wanted me to take biology. They didnt care that i had A & P-they wanted biology. I said "next" . There are plenty of choices when it comes to RN to BSN programs-you just have to find the right fit.
This is for UOP-Online. These are just the RN to BSN courses.
I have been going through this thread, investigating options for ADN-BSN. I have to look at affordability as well as accredidation (sp). If I am reading this correctly, UOP, the total for BSN through Phoenix is 46,200.00?

You can get by without taking Chemisty, but you sure will understand Micro, Pathophysiology....etc. if you take it. All the sciences have a background in chemistry including A&P. Good luck.
