In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.
One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.
The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.
Online Nursing Degree Programs at Thomas Edison State University
Yahoooooo!!!!!!! I am officially a student! I am an associate degree RN for 6 years and decided to go back to school to open my door of options for management or possibly teaching! I am enrolled for the summer semester at Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences Rn to BSN online. I wanted to extend my thanks to everyone on this forum, because I took every post and researched every school that was written to come up with the school I did. The program is 2.5 years, but I only have 2 years to do since I've done chemistry, statistics and an elective already. I don't have a bachelors degree in anything, so I needed a school that had the general education classes online as well. Working nights and being mom to a 20 month old, this worked the best for me. I can't wait to start! So, again- thanks to you all and I'll keep you all updated on how my journey goes. I long ago bookmarked this page and plan to visit often for inspiration!
How was the statistics on line(for someone who is math challenged???) That requirement is what is keeping me from getting BSN thru EC.
SUNY (State University of New York) at Stonybrook. I'm enrolled now and it's all online RN - BSN. No clinicals. Must be licensed in the state in which you practice without restrictions. Can also be a GN, but must be licensed without restrictions within 6 months of program start...
Isabel.
Ok, I just filled out my app and paid my fee for U of Wy. Hope I get accepted!
Does anyone know if statistics and chemistry is required at UWYO or T.EDISON. And if they would accept CLEP or DSST? I am considering those two if I don't end up with Excelsior ADN to BSN.(EC because of the price).Has anyone tested out of STATISTICS with EC or DSST????Thanks!
is anyone going to or applied to rn (with previous bachelors in another area) bridge program to bsn msn at fau in florida??
those going to iwuonline - how much work does it require a week?
i am concerned about the price - fau is much less expensive - but the people at iwu are much more accomodating on the phone
thanks
Although you stated affordable, I did the University of Phoenix online BSN and now the MSN and I find it totally doable. I'm going from an ADN to BSN to MSN in 30 months.
I'm thinking about doing the RN to BSN through U of Phoenix. How were they on busy work? I did a few credits through Florida Hospital College but tired of the 'projects'. I'm currently a working RN and I'm out in the community every day. Don't need to get together with people and do projects. Looking for program consisting of: read the material, take the test, and write a paper or two. No keeping journals, no making powerpoint presentations, no interviewing managers and coworkers. Time is precious!
And thanks for your time if you answer my question!

Don't do UoP, they have "group projects".
Good luck in finding something that fits. Unfortunately NLN approved programs have to have the "clinical" element.
NEED SOME ADVICE, PLEASE HELP!!!!!! I have been researching some online RN-BSN programs and the University of Wisconsin Green Bay looks good. The only problem is the State Board of Nursing in my state tells me they have not approved that program. They gave me a list of schools in my state and of 4 schools out of state. Not one of those BSN programs interest me. What do I do? Does it really matter where I get my BSN since I already passed boards? I don't even plan to stay in this state, I plan to travel while I study. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Interesting.
Most of us are getting our BSNs to put on our resumes. I have no intention of notifying the state when I get my BSN, I don't think they are interested. It's not going to change my license status.
Good luck.

Good luck in finding an ideal BSN program like you described and please let us know if you do find one.
Unfortunately, every one of them that I know of, whether state university or private college, consist of the dreaded stuff you mentioned.
I too, have totally had it with group projects and power point presentations and I'll never do a masters if it's going to be more of the same, which at my school it is.

The RN to BSN program is not 120 credits. That's just how much you need to graduate............this is including all the credits they transfer in from your ADN program. It looks like there are 48 "upper division" credit hours to take.
Mind you UoP is one of the more expensive of the bunch.
