I have a question to you guys,I passed my nclex rn last February, and now I wasn't able to received my license in the mail yet but I applied for a job already at ltac facility, and they offered me $27/hr as my base rate and $3 diff.during weekdays and $5 during weekends and that's a night shift..as a nurse without experience at all to hospital facility,is that good enough to start my nursing career?and I am a bsn degree holder too..thank u..

Specializes in ICU, trauma.
I started at $ 22.7 in Kansas City, Kansas.

22 here in Iowa as well...

Specializes in Critical Care.
In Cleveland, Ohio I started at $26/hr day shift (27 when rotating to nights) at a major hospital. However, my orientation period was 75% pay for those 3 months. So, in my mind, starting at 27 (which is what I'm at after a year) is a great thing!

I've never heard of being offered only 75% pay during orientation. I hope this does not become a trend! Also only a $1 extra for nights is pretty bad if you ask me! The starting pay sounds all right though.

Specializes in Emergency.

$73/hr new grad @ San Francisco.

That pay is great as a new Grad, I live in California, but California pays a little more for nurses. But my friend started as a new grad in Texas at 25/hr.

One of the big ones. A friend started at another hospital in San Francisco and is getting $63/hr there.

Specializes in Float Pool - A Little Bit of Everything.

New grad pay for all new grads, when I graduated was about $23 an hour in the Virginia Beach, VA area. I know that at all of the facilities I worked at, there was no extra pay for BSN. At my current facility, only extra pay for MSN.

Specializes in IMCU, Oncology.

I am in DFW. I just graduated and will be starting a new grad residency program in a hospital with a starting pay of $24 with awesome differentials. I cannot remember exactly what they were but they were really good. So it sounds like you got a great starting pay.

Specializes in school nursing, ortho, trauma.

Dang - makes me want to go to San Francisco and see what they'd pay someone a bit longer in the tooth ;)

I know people who have gotten well over 220k/year in San Francisco. Gotta love nonstop work. :-p

Not bad for a new grad, I'm still only at 71/hr after 3 years at an outpatient specialty, but then again I work days with no differential.
