Riverside School of Health Careers RN program

U.S.A. Virginia

Hello everyone!

I am looking for current, past, and even prospective students for Riverside's RN program. I will be applying for the September 2013 professional nursing program. For current or past students, what was your GPA and teas score? Also how was the program, instructors, clinicals? I did attend the last open house in December and I was hoping that a student or recent grad would be there to talk about their experience. I love how the instructors seem to be really supportive and the small campus also appealed to me. To other prospective students what start date are you applying to and do you have any other nursing/healthcare experience? Any advice or other information on the program is greatly appreciated!

Yay! I can't wait. I know we aren't supposed to use calculators on the test...but the proctor gave me one. I don't think that's normal.

I had the best time shadowing in the emergency department today at Riverside. I highly recommend the shadowing program! I was starting to talk myself out of nursing, but today talking to and walking the halls with so many nurses that like what they do, and are positive about their job, it was awesome. I think I am going to turn down my spot in the LPN program and work full force at my pre-requisites and apply for the RN program next spring.

I been keeping up with this thread. I am going to your open house tomorrow. I was thinking about doing RN but I don't have my pre reqs done and I just quit my job( long story) so I'm thinking about just doing the LPN program instead. I really wanna work in pediatrics.

You got to use a calculator?? If I had one I would have done fantastic!

Have you started any pre-reqs for the RN program? If I'm not mistaken, the next LPN and RN classes start in January. So if you would be done with pre-reqs by then, then my suggestion would be to apply for the professional nursing (RN) program. The only thing is the deadline for Jan 2014 is the middle of August and some pre-reqs must be complete before applying. They'll go over all that at the open house tomorrow and answer any questions you might have.

If you want to work in the hospital, in pediatrics, don't do the LPN program, no hospitals in the Hampton Roads area hires LPN's. BUT, if you want to work in a pediatric doctors office, you have a chance. Work on your pre-requisites and do the RN program. Also, all the RN's I spoke to yesterday went to school at Riverside and were very happy with the education they received.

I started my math but I won't have time to finish all the pre reqs I need before aug that's why I was thinking LPN. My goal is to work at CHKD. So I should just do the RN program? I do not have the money to get all my pre reqs done. Any suggestions?

I would write the nursing recruiter at CHKD and ask her/him. Find out who they hire, LPN, RN, ASN, BSN...

Soooo, how was the open house?

It was great! I LOVED it! I got a door prize. My interview is scheduled for next Thursday as well!

I was there too! Where were you sitting? I was in the first row on the right. I was the lady who won TWO door prizes but gave the second one away (didn't want to seem greedy LOL). :yeah:

I agree the open house was great. Problem is now I don't have a 2nd choice..Riverside is #1. I like the "feel" of the school. Not so overwhelming like a big university.

Ok, so what exactly is rolling admission? I was watching the open house on facebook and he touched on it, but I didn't follow.
