Riverside Community College Nursing Program Spring 2016

Published

Hi everyone!

I thought I would begin a thread for everyone applying to the nursing program at Riverside City College for the spring 2016. Hope we can share about our process here. :)

Currently, I'm finishing up my Anatomy/Physiology 2 and Sociology 100 at CSUSB. So far, I've been doing well, I think haha! If I finish with an A in sociology I'll have a 4.0 for my general eds and a 3.0 for my science gpa. After the spring quarter, I'll be studying for the TEAS exam for a little over a month and take the exam in July. Any advice that's related to the TEAS exam?

Hope we can begin this thread. Best wishes to everyone here!:up::)

Hi everyone! I'm starting RCC's school of nursing this fall and I just wanted to pop in to offer a little advice for those of you studying for the TEAS test. I realize that everyone is different, but this is what worked for me. I purchased the online tests from ATI (you get 2) and took the first one without studying at all. I scored a 74.7% on that one and it gave me feedback about the areas I needed to work on. I then used the ATI study manual and the Mc-Graw Hill's 5 Practice Tests book to study from. I studied for about a month, and a week prior to the TEAS I started taking one practice test (from the books) per day. I was consistently scoring in the 80+% range on these. The day before I was to take the TEAS I took the second ATI online test and scored a 78%, which fell short of the 80+% I was hoping for. My final score on the actual TEAS test was 86%, giving me the 85 points I needed to be accepted into RCC. Most people seemed to score 5-10% better on the actual test than they did on the practice ones. So basically my advice is to take the online practice tests. The online practice test is an excellent way to experience the look and feel of the TEAS before you take it, and it is a good indicator of the score you will ultimately receive on the TEAS. Actually, my reading and math scores on my final practice test and the TEAS were identical, and my science and english scores were significantly better than the practice test.

Best wishes to all of you! I know this is a nerve wracking time, but it will fly by and you will be trying on your new RCC scrubs in no time! :)

Thank you so much for your feedback! I appreciate it. Takes just a little bit of the nerves away ☺

Hello everyone !

First time posting anything on this site. I'm applying to the 2016 spring RN program.yay!! I'm super excited and nervous at the same time. I have an appointment with Jackie Urena on Thursday to see exactly were I stand on the points system. I do have a question for all of you. I went to the pre nursing meeting a couple weeks ago and she said we need to apply to the college to have a student ID because we needed it in order to apply to the nursing program so I was applying today and it said the application process was closed and would not let me apply :( I had to choose the term and there were only 2 to choose from summer 2015 and fall 2015. I chose fall and it said it was closed for fall. I'm so worried it's not going to let me apply and I won't get a student ID. I wouldn't want something as small as this make me wait another semester!! That would be horrible!!! Does anyone know what I can do ? Thanks!

Hi! Thank you so much for this valuable information! I will follow your advice and continue to take practice tests. I bet you're excited to begin the program now! I wish you all the best! :D

Hii!

As far as I know, the Fall 2015 application is closed. The last day to apply was August 16th. I'm not sure if there is any other help to get your ID. As the counselor about it :] I believe that there's a pre-nursing workshop today in the Moreno Valley campus at 2 p.m. I'll be attending. Maybe you could ask there :]

Hey,

I'm just starting to work on some of the prerequisites needed for the LVN-RN bridge at RCC and wanted some help. I haven't started my sciences yet and was wondering what Chemistry class I should take. Chem-2A or Chem 3 can be taken as a prerequisite for Micro but for some reason Chem-3 doesn't count for the nursing prerequisite. According to the RN information sheet only Chem-2A or 1A count towards the chemistry prerequisite.

Thanks.

Hello.

Just in case anyone is having a similar problem as I was having about applying for RCC if you have never attended there is a "back door" way to apply. Thank goodness for Jackie Urena. She helped me out. If you need help just message me :) so who is excited for the application process to open up ? Almost time 😁

Hi, as far as the program that you're applying to, Chemistry 2-A is recommended. I would take Chem 2-A instead of the harder chemistry. Do you attend Rcc?
