  1. Oh on a side note, I went back on my pictures I posted on social media when I got in (no judgement lol) and it said December 18, 2015 is when I received my invite to the program. By that time nursing students are done with their classes so I'm thinking they wait for the semester craziness to end before they send out the invites. My final is next monday so I'm thinking you all will hear something around that time, maybe mid next week? Hope that helps :)
  2. Thank you so much! This will be you soon too, you'll see.
  3. Thank you! Yes, treat this like a full time job :) even if you are done with class early or only at school for one seminar, still treat your day like a full 8 hour work day and go to the library and study. I have done this all 2 yrs and it has done me very well. So tell everyone in your family that you are unavailable monday to friday. On the weekends I dedicated saturday to my kids and sunday I worked. And to be honest if I had an exam on monday, then I had my kids play while I attempted to study. My advice, especially if you have kids is to study at the library, starbucks, or panera. Being at home is more distracting because there will always be things needing cleaning, a load to be washed, kids asking you for something lol it doesn't work! This is why I highly advise you to treat monday to friday as a full time job and even though you want to rush home to family, trust me when I say the sacrifice is worth it. When it got rough and I felt like a "bad mom" for being away so much, I reminded myself that I would feel worse if the time spent away from them was not made worthwhile because I failed. Succeeding was the reward for them and myself. Get yourself a good planner that you will find easy to keep track of life in lol trust me it will save you.
  4. Hi everyone, best of luck to you all. I remember doing this exact thing in fall of 2015 to start in spring of 2016. I'm set to finish December and I just want to let you know this crazy journey will fly by and you too will then be ready to get pinned. I am on a downhill slope now with 15 days left and tons to do so I apologize if I don't get back to you in time but please feel free to ask me any questions. I am a wife, a mother to 3 kids and 2 fur babies, I do work weekends only and this semester I work way less, I have a home that looks like a tornado hit but eventually it will be deep cleaned, cooking i keep basic and that's ok, weight gain and loss constantly, but has it been worth it ? ABSOLUTELY. You can do it, just keep your eye on the prize and study as if someone's life depended on it, because one day it will!
  5. Your very welcome the holy grail books are the Taylor skills book and the fundamentals books, need your drug book, did use the maternal child book mainly for the exam that covered OB, I never cracked the med surg one open bc honestly most of the readings from other books are also on the funds. Used contemporary a bit also but same thing was also mentioned in funds book :/ never opened the gerontological one or the pharm book, def not the IV book either I haven't bought it since that wasn't needed in 11 but I need it now. I didn't buy the psych book either bc that's not needed til the end... Your required to buy coursepoints and that is the supplement to the funds, med surg, and maternal child book... The coursepoints will also provide you with an e book so if you are the kind that doesn't need a page to flip and fold and write on like I do then by all means you can actually do the same with the e book and save money on the physical book. The health promotion book we only really used for the theoretical model you need to have for a project but it's a group project someone will def have that book lol. Re cap.. So if you want to save money: buy the 3 coursepoints and use the e book it comes with, get the skills book, drug book, and contemporary... If you need the theoretical model check it out from the library reserve and make a copy of the pages needed
  6. Not sure if someone answered this for you but your nursing 13 will be in the summer of 2017
  7. Congrats to everyone that got in !!! Can't wait to see all the newbies in fall tips before starting: 1. deep clean your house bc that mess won't be cleaned til winter break LOL! 2. Figure out child care so you don't have to worry about it later 3. Prepare your significant other for the lack of attention you are about to give them ... It's true ! But it's about quality not quantity 4. Pens, pencils, binders, page flags, highlighters, printer paper, stapler, 3-hole punch.. need I say more ??? 5. Although you may be against it you will convert !!! To the rolley back pack crew... "They see me Rollin, they hatin" I promise they come in handy and just like Disneyland is stroller central, SON building is rolley backpack central lol! The best BEST MOST AWESOME bag that I ended up getting bc everyone has it and loves it is the husky tool bag from Home Depot lmao ! Silly I know but worth it absolutely worth it ! Husky 18 in. Rolling Tool Tote GP-43196N13 at The Home Depot - Mobile they are on sale! 18in is the perfect size 6. I spent so much time pre reading and note taking before 11 started that missed that time with family so please PLEASE enjoy the calm before the storm. welcome aboard my nursing sisters and brothers!
  8. Hi there ! I actually researched that bc mine are about 6 years old so I found out RCC and Mt. SAC (chaffey, valley, CSUSB, Victorville all expire after 5 yrs) are the only local colleges with no recency policy. I verbally confirmed at workshops i would call and find out about a & p. If possible set an appt with a nursing dept to look over your transcripts and give you an idea about your points. There you should find the answer to you thesecond question. Good luck !!
  9. omg !!!!!! How amazing are you !!!!!!!!! Forget the soda I owe you a meal lol [email protected]
  10. i am ! My doc is going to do a phone consult first to order my Immunizations then I go in for physicals
  11. Go to get started on the left once you sign up for complio then scroll down down down down and youll see initial form or something like that click it and voila !
  12. Also course points is not the same as prepU then right ?
  13. Hey everyone ! I wanted to thank everyone for their kindness and support that you all have shown me and each other on this thread and journey.I found out on Friday that I was accepted to my first school of choice so I will be retracting my acceptance from mt sac. I wish everyone the best of luck and can't wait to join the nursing sister/brotherhood with you all in 2017! Remember the journey will be difficult and there will be times that you will want to throw in the towel but that's when you lean on eachother for support and encouragement and remember exactly why you started this journey. Sending you my love and positive vibes my future nursing friends. God bless you all... I'll catch you on the other end :) -xoxo Yami , future RN
