Riverside Community College Nursing Program Spring 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

I thought I would begin a thread for everyone applying to the nursing program at Riverside City College for the spring 2016. Hope we can share about our process here. :)

Currently, I'm finishing up my Anatomy/Physiology 2 and Sociology 100 at CSUSB. So far, I've been doing well, I think haha! If I finish with an A in sociology I'll have a 4.0 for my general eds and a 3.0 for my science gpa. After the spring quarter, I'll be studying for the TEAS exam for a little over a month and take the exam in July. Any advice that's related to the TEAS exam?

Hope we can begin this thread. Best wishes to everyone here!:up::)

Hello! I'm trying to apply for the Fall 2016 and was hoping you guys could answer some of my questions.

Is there a recency requirement for science pre-reqs?

Also, I know they prefer that you take A&P at the same school, but did any of you take yours at separate schools? I did Human Anatomy at one school and Human Physiology at another. I hope they will accept that.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there ! I actually researched that bc mine are about 6 years old so I found out RCC and Mt. SAC (chaffey, valley, CSUSB, Victorville all expire after 5 yrs) are the only local colleges with no recency policy. I verbally confirmed at workshops ;)

i would call and find out about a & p. If possible set an appt with a nursing dept to look over your transcripts and give you an idea about your points. There you should find the answer to you thesecond question. Good luck !!

How is the homework load first semester?

The homework load the first semester is comparable to Anatomy and Micro... It's new information and tedious. If you have had previous experience in the medical field, things will come much fluently.

I feel much of you are going ape-**** because this is a new endeavor. That is completely normal!!! Trust me when I say, as long as you have the heart to embark on this journey, you will do amazing. I believe in each and every one of you. We need more RCC nurses in the field, that is why RCC is competitive.

See you all in the Spring!!!!

Hello everyone,

How is our schedule works since we don't have school today? Do we just attend our Tuesday lab/lecture instead?

Hey. I've got a pdf copy of the foundations, med surg and pharm book. I'm more than happy to share the love if you don't want to buy the physical copies. Yes they are the right editions, I have all of these downloaded on my phone and Samsung tablet with no problem. You'll still need to buy the the med surg course points. No, I am not asking anything other than you share with others (although.. I wouldn't say no to a friendly ice cold Dr. Pepper some school day I've forgotten my wallet ;)

messaged you :)

Is it correct that you can have pre-req science courses in progress when applying for ADN at RCC?

"....1. Admission will be denied to an applicant who earned a grade of C-” or less in a nursingprogram at another college.2. Foreign transcripts must have a Detailed Evaluation,” and be submitted by the applicationdeadline. Information can be obtained from the Counseling Office.3. Students with prerequisite courses in progress must turn in a grade verification form to the School ofNursing office as soon as the final grade is available.4. Students must have applied to the college prior to making application to the ADN (RN) program.5. Meeting minimum requirements of the program does not guarantee admission into the program."

Hi,

Does anyone know if you can take Nrn-18 before completing the A&P prerequisites? Nrn-18 is the transition class for the lvn to rn program. I've talked to counselling but I haven't talked to a nursing counselor yet, I'm not sure how to get an appointment with them.
