Hi everyone!
I thought I would begin a thread for everyone applying to the nursing program at Riverside City College for the spring 2016. Hope we can share about our process here. :)
Currently, I'm finishing up my Anatomy/Physiology 2 and Sociology 100 at CSUSB. So far, I've been doing well, I think haha! If I finish with an A in sociology I'll have a 4.0 for my general eds and a 3.0 for my science gpa. After the spring quarter, I'll be studying for the TEAS exam for a little over a month and take the exam in July. Any advice that's related to the TEAS exam?
Hope we can begin this thread. Best wishes to everyone here! :)
Before studying I took the online practice test and scored a 62 horrible then I studied scored a 75 on the second practice test and today for my tease I got an 83% I'll take that for this mom with hardly any time to study. I swear it's like my one year-old knew when I would crack the book open he would come running and crying for me:sniff: now I owe my six-year-old a Lego play set I told him if distracts his brother and I scored well I would get it for him:sarcastic: lol bribery at its finest
How was the science section ? I've gone over everything in the book but when I take practice test there are questions that were not covered in the book. I've been taking practice test and not doing as well as I hope. I'm really worried I'm not going to do good.
Not giving answers of course just a general topic to study so here goes ..
Become very familiar with the periodic table as in where to look for things and how to decipher proton and neutrons . Know how to find out the valence electrons, know how to balance a molar equation.. Biology wise: brush up on mitosis and meiosis and know the difference of each like in example one is to produce cells yadda yadda while the other is for reproduction. Know what the organelles in a eukaryotic cells do.. In the body Know about the the CNS and the PNS ..parasympathetic and such
english really study your sentences and the proper structure of it
math is exactly like the book no surprises and not bad at all
reading is reading lol and exactly like the book too
I'm at a steady 75 lol not competitive but not too worried about it since I'm in at mt sac. RCC is closer but I'm grateful for any nursing school at this point in my life.
Youll be fine ! The online is harder than the real one so just keep going over stuff. Outlining helps me so 3 wks ago I followed an outline that some amazing nursing student posted on allnurses and although extensive really helped me on the test it was work to outline but something about writing helped me remember. I Would know the answer and kept wondering how the heck I remembered that lol it all depends on your style. Let me know if you need more help. I dont see this as a competition to get in . All those who dream it and believe it will achieve it ( hallmark card status right lol) , just don't lose the drive to become a nurse and that too shall come :)

On the practice test I was scoring in the 50s but on the actual test I score in the 80s on that section. It wasn't too bad, most of it was covered in the manual.
