So i posted awhile back about buying a stethoscope off of www.stethoscopes.com ... so I whipped out my Visa card and bought a Littman Cardiology III for 175$ including shipping. It says on their website that it takes around 5 to 10 business days for delivery...that was like a month ago!
So i've been phoning them...no one picks up the phone. its just an automated message that says they are open between certain hours Pacific Time. When you phone back at that time its the same freaking message. The other phone number they provide is out of service.
Soooo....i email them! No response at all. So eventually I phone Visa to dispute this. They tell me it takes up to 4 MONTHS to get a refund and according to them they have to try and contact the company and talk to them...work it out, etc. And the Visa rep said on the phone that if the sellers proves that they shipped my stethoscope, then they wont refund my money even if I haven't received it!!! So much for getting your money back from visa I'M SO MAD RIGHT NOW
Oh and i looked online for companies that ship to Canada but I couldnt really find any....allheart and redding medical are supposedly good but they only ship within the USA. The reason i bought online because its like half of the 250$ that ive seen in uniform shops downtown for the same stethoscope. And the website looks legit (at least i thought it did ... i must be the only person stupid enough to think that it was legit )
They are different as far as I know stethoscopes.com was him. He is into pushing Magna Fortis. He must own the company. Because he always tries to sell you on them when you call and complain because your Littman did not arrive. He claims they are the best. Try and see if you can find Magna Fortis on search engine and it is all bad. I do not know what his deal is. But I know what he did to me. And I talked to him personally twice and he was nice but trying to sell you on those scopes and actually was trying to rip me off. So it is the website that is stethoscopes.....:flmngmd:
I wish I had seen this sooner....I just ordered a stethoscope yesterday...but I ordered the magna fortis because my littmans (yes plural!) keep disappearing over the last few years at work. The problem was: everyone has a littman, they only come in a few colors, and even with engravings people would grab them, probably thinking they were their's.
So I decided that I needed something "unique" and littman couldn't give me that.
I heard some good reviews about the Magna....so I thought I'd give it a shot.
I got it in hot pink (I don't think any of the 50 year old male cardiologists will jack it)
But now I'm worried I won't get it at all.......*sigh*
If there are enough disgruntled customers....couldn't we file some sort of group lawsuit? Just an idea..... I'm willing if it's not here in a month.
Well for sure you will receive this scope!! That is for sure. So I wouldn't be worried, because that is what ultimately he tries to sell you on and generally he gives you a free medical bag with them. Let us know what you think of the scope that he pushes. It will be interesting to hear your review.
So I got the stethoscope, guess that makes it what? 2 weeks, so not too bad. The engraving was done nicely as I had requested, it's pretty. It's what I asked for.
The sound is actually really loud. I can hear the heart beat great with it, same with lung sounds. It doesn't look like a super-expensive model. But I like the fact that it's hot pink, perhaps people will stop stealing my stethoscopes!
In any case, I'll give it a 4 out of 5 because:
It's unique, has a lot more color choices than littman
I can still do what I need to do with it, the sound quality is there
And I did get a free medical bag.
So, if you guys do use the website, only use it for the magna fortis that he pushes. If you don't want that one, use another website.
So I fell into the trap as well. I purchased a Master Cardio Black with my name, RN... been a nurse for about a year, and I got a job in the critical care unit close to home. Anyway... I wanted a good scope.
Transactions went fine, but I never got a shipping number or anything. I called and actually spoke to someone, that said it should ship out a week from yesterday. Low and behold, its a month and a half later, still no scope, and SUPRISE, no answer on the phone. It still says 9 am pacific time to 9 pm pacific time... blah blah blah.. please call during our regular hours.
Well, I spoke with my bank, filed a fraud report, and hooray they gave me my hard earned dead presidents back. Just FYI in case anymore of you out there are having trouble.
This guy is a scum bag. BBB rates his business as an F. He has 32 or so complaints filed against him . And according to some other people around the web, he has pulled this crap in other states as well. Don't buy from this turd... he is a worthless.
I am a nursing student who also fell victim to this company. I was so excited to find someone who could engrave images on stethoscopes which is why I selected to purchase one from them. It has been over a week since I placed the order and even after selecting express shipping, have yet to receive it. I have sent several emails and also tried to call at the number provided and have yet to be able to talk to a live person as the message states the mailbox is full and to try back later. I am absolutely LIVID that this man is able to continue to do business and will be contacting the BBB as well as the AG for the state of Washington to report him. All I can say is "what goes around, comes around" and eventually he will get what he deserves. This man belongs in jail!!!
You know what is really sad?...Is that he had a product that everyone wanted. Makes me wonder if I should quit nursing and sell them with the cute etching. I got the product from another company who send it asap. But it didn't have the same kinda etching, which would prove it was mine. The steth had my name but small....don't know why that guy can not be honest.
Sad to say, I also was ripped off by this con artist. I wish I had gone to Allnurses sooner!! At least I am going to be able to be refunded by my credit card company. This is ridiculous!!
