So i posted awhile back about buying a stethoscope off of www.stethoscopes.com ... so I whipped out my Visa card and bought a Littman Cardiology III for 175$ including shipping. It says on their website that it takes around 5 to 10 business days for delivery...that was like a month ago!

So i've been phoning them...no one picks up the phone. its just an automated message that says they are open between certain hours Pacific Time. When you phone back at that time its the same freaking message. The other phone number they provide is out of service.

Soooo....i email them! No response at all. So eventually I phone Visa to dispute this. They tell me it takes up to 4 MONTHS to get a refund and according to them they have to try and contact the company and talk to them...work it out, etc. And the Visa rep said on the phone that if the sellers proves that they shipped my stethoscope, then they wont refund my money even if I haven't received it!!! So much for getting your money back from visa :( I'M SO MAD RIGHT NOW

Oh and i looked online for companies that ship to Canada but I couldnt really find any....allheart and redding medical are supposedly good but they only ship within the USA. The reason i bought online because its like half of the 250$ that ive seen in uniform shops downtown for the same stethoscope. And the website looks legit (at least i thought it did ... i must be the only person stupid enough to think that it was legit )

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience buying online. I am an RN and also an internet marketer. I would like to clear up some misconceptions about shopping online. I have a website on which I sell stethoscopes and related medical equipment. I sell Littmann but am not an authorized Littmann distributor. That does not mean that my stethoscopes are counterfeit or used. It only means that Littmann is not bringing on any more authorized distributors because they have enough. I get my stethoscopes from a distributor.

To answer your problem, however, I would like to point out a statement copied and pasted from the 3M website:

"Please Note:

The U.S. distributors listed above sell 3M™ Littmann® Stethoscope products and parts to customers in the U.S. only. They may or may not have all items, models, colors, sizes, lengths, parts, and/or accessories in stock at the time of your order. Prices may vary."

I can ship MDF or Welch Allyn to Canada but not Littmann, as designated by 3M itself.

Near the bottom of the page there is a listing of 3 distributors who you can purchase a Littmann from in Canada.

Sometimes I like to go back into the archives and read old threads. Some of them are fascinating and most of them still apply to today's situations. Then there are those that are clearly dated and they are fun to read to see how things have changed.

I got my Littman Cardiology III from allheart.com for $140 with free engraving and free shipping. It came really quickly.

I ordered a Littmann Cardiology III last week for a graduation present from stethoscopes.com (and am now thinking that was a big mistake after reading on this site). I received an email receipt from them but haven't heard anymore from the "company" about the status of my order. I tried calling several times, and when I've called it goes directly to a voice mailbox that can't receive anymore messages. I've also tried leaving my callback number through their paging service and have sent two emails to them now. Needless to say there haven't been any responses. I'm doubting that I'm going to receive my product from this scammer but will let everyone else know if anything changes. They have so many complaints against them through the BBB as another user had posted. How is this guy not in jail? I saw on this forum that someone did receive their order, has anyone else had any luck??? Thank goodness that it looks like my bank is going to cover me if this turns out to be fraudulent. So far I'm another user who is going to say stay away from stethoscopes.com

I usually find out about things after it is too late. BTW, a coworker got a BP cuff from allheart and it promptly broke. Unable to get any help through customer service. Seems it might be a better idea to get equipment locally where you can get it in person. At least you would have your product in hand after you part with your money.

well, i just used this website and of course a day late and a dollar short.

picked out a littman master classic II engraved with my name. i read on this forum all the problems..., looked at my bank acct and saw that the charge hadnt gone thru, so i picked up the phone and called the dude and cancelled the order. he states that the charge will be reverse in 48hrs. ill follow up with him and see if i got my $$ back.

Yep, it is too bad that he and his company are like that. I really wanted the engraving of a butterfly that he had along with my name. But I did get really fast service through steeles, the company that the person mentioned in an earlier thread here. The guy who runs that place is aware of the problems we are encountering and is getting a lot of new business!....I got my credit card refunded really fast by Visa, when stethoscopes.com took me!!...I just can't believe that guy is still selling?!...Hopefully the word will get around. :nurse:

well,

i ordered my steth on jan 13. after numerous phone calls and emails.. i have got nothing. its now the 13th of feb...this is ridiculous.

im a fair person and willing to give a chance but i just got screwed out of 147 bucks..... this dude is goin down!!!

order early november, no stethoscope..multiple calls, multiple times talking to marc about how his shipping company couldn't ship to a US post office on a military base (how could i get an xbox and lcd tv, then???):confused::confused:, and numerous "it'll ship tomorrow" excuses, i finally have a refund pending in my account. we'll see if the steth i ordered is sent for free as promised..

Wow. Is stethoscope.com different then stethoscopes.com? I ordered a Littmann 3100 Wednesday out of desperation. My electonic stethoscope bit the dust and I needed a new one right away for clinicals. I talked to a wonderful woman there and received my stethoscope on Friday. Stethoscope.com was great with me. Maybe I was lucky? Metfan
