Hi everyone,
I currently go to Mt. Sac at the moment and will finish all my ADN pre-requistes for Rio Hondo this summer. As for the selection criteria they use overall, I feel that my application will be highly competitive. However, my definition of competitiveness is probably different from others. I was wondering for anyone who currently attends or previously attended the ADN program at Rio Hondo to state your applicant profile (overall GPA, science GPA, volunteer hours, any previous degree, and experience). Thanks, it would help me and many others who are hopeful in entering the ADN program at Rio Hondo College. :)

I also attended Mt. Sac and submitted my application for the LVN to RN program at Rio Hondo. I am nervous because I know how competitive it is out there. I am on the waitlist at Mt. Sac but do not want to wait a year. I decided to apply witb Rio Hondo since they are based off of a point system. During the orientation at Rio hondo the counselor said, points are given for high GPA, prior work experience, bilinguals, veteran status, and financial need. I hope to get in the Fall of 2012. I am praying I get in.

Hi,
if you have all A's on your science pre-req. you have a very high chance of getting accepted. regardless of your other points eg. volunteer hr. license ect...
hope that helped
I have an A in Micro and B in Anatomy and Physiology. I am a Veteran and also have 1 year of LVN experience but should have tried Harder to get A's in my A&P.
veteran get very high priority. from what you provided, you have a very high chance to get in. if not first round, pretty much 2nd round they will call you.
are you going for the LVN bridge? if so, that will be more competitive and only during march they accept application.
Yes, I submitted my application in February before the March 2nd deadline with Rio. I also submitted my application with Mt. Sac but I have higher hopes for Rio Hondo. Are you going directly into the 2 year program? Have you considered getting on the waitlist with Mt. Sac?

Hi everyone! I found out today that I was selected for the Rio Hondo College LVN-ADN bridge program for Fall 2012! I'm so excited! Has anyone else called to find out their status? I can't wait to meet my new classmates! I'm finally going to be an RN! Yay!
I also applied for the LVN to RN bridge. I have not called to find out my status. I was told that we would recieve a letter if we were selected. I don't know if my GPA was good enough. I will have to call tomorrow to find out.
Congrats Nurse Dalee you must be so excited..I hope I get to attend Rio Hondo with you.

@NurseDalee: Congratulations! I'm so happy for you :) It's a great feeling isn't it?
Thanks to NurseDalee's notification, I called Rio Hondo right now (8am) and they told me letters for Generic ADN and LVN->RN went out, so they are able to tell you if you made it into the program or not. Unfortunately I wasn't, and the reason was that the top 50 students had really high points!
Good luck everyone! :)
