Rio Hondo College?
Congrats MPETRIDES1984! So do you live in the AV? I live in Lancaster and do not want to wait for AVC's 3 semester wait and I heard it was at least 2 for COC. My parents live in Cerritos so I will be staying with them about 3 days a week while I attend RHC. Whatever I gotta do to get the RN, I'm gonna do it! Good luck to you at COC!

Rio Hondo College LVN to ADN 2012 + TEAS Test
@ChristineLVN2RN: I attended an info meeting last Oct. Call or visit online for upcoming dates, it was very informative. I took my science classes all last year and also prereqs that I needed. Good luck on your Micro!

Rio Hondo College?
@LarryZ: I do not think the school charges to take the TEAS. I was not charged at my prior school when I took it for my LVN and there is nothing in the acceptance letter that states we need to bring money to pay for it. When the school opens back up next week I will ask about it when I call to accept my spot in the LVN-ADN class.

Rio Hondo College LVN to ADN 2012 + TEAS Test
I also received my acceptance to the LVN-ADN program at Rio Hondo for the summer transition class! My TEAS is scheduled for April 11th. I am nervous because I have heard it is a lot harder than the prior TEAS I took while in LVN school a few years back. There has been mention of a lot of chemistry on this one and questions that are very 'deep'. I am also studying the McGraw-Hill along with The Princeton Review Exam book. Is anyone doing the practice tests through ATI? Can't wait to meet you all!

Rio Hondo ADN Nursing Program
@SquishyLVN I was told earlier in the year that RHC usually accepts 20-24 LVN's a year, not sure of this years numbers though. Did you apply for the 2012 Fall term?

Any of you LPNs bridging to RN in your very late 40s
I finished my LVN (I live in CA) when I was 48 and graduated with highest academic honors in my class and was also the oldest person in my class. I just found out today that I was accepted into a LVN-ADN bridge program that starts this fall! I am 50, but in a few weeks will be 51 years old and this summer I will be going to be in nursing school for my RN. For me it has been a dream of mine to be a nurse and to have my RN. After my RN I would like to get my BSN then who knows, I would love to teach nursing someday. Age is just a number, and what I have learned is that we can pull from our many past experiences and can help us in many situations. Go for your dreams, life is too short!

Rio Hondo College?
I found out today that I was accepted to Rio Hondo College for the LVN-ADN bridge program for Fall 2012! Yay, so excited! If you call the office they are allowed at this point to let you know if you have been accepted or not. Letters are not going to go out for another few days, then RHC will be on spring break, so call and see if you made it! I can't wait to meet my new classmates!

College of the Canyons Nursing Program Spring 2012
Hi! @ilovekol, What program were you accepted to? ADN or LVN-ADN? Do you know how many semesters the wait is for LVN-ADN at COC? I'm trying to find a program out here in the AV, but am willing to travel to LA. Does anyone know of any other good programs that do not take forever to get into the LVN-ADN? I have a good GPA, but haven't taken Chemistry, seems like a lot of schools want that class. At COC do you have to have the Intermediate Algebra finished prior to applying? It said just 'eligible', but heard it had to be done. When did you apply and when do you start your program? Good luck!

Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
Thank you for responding munkeyann. It is terrible that we have to wait so long to get into a program! I will go and ask again at AVC about the waiting time, but sounds as if people are waiting yrs to get in. I heard that at COC, if you have your prereqs done, then the wait time is not long. I'm gonna go there and ask some questions about the program. Well, good luck to you and thanks again!

College of the Canyons Nursing Program Spring 2012
Hi and thanks for responding MayeLVN. I will have my prereqs finished by Dec. except for math. On their website it says you have to be "eligible for Int. Algebra", so does it have to be finished to apply? Or can it be just be taken before graduation like it sounds? I have heard about AVC's long wait, I live right down the street from the college, but looks like I will have to travel to do the LVN-RN somewhere. Good luck for October!

Western Governor's university BSN & Southern California University of Health Sciences
I have been working with Matt from WGU about the RN-BSN program since January, and even this summer he said they were taking online classes for the prereqs. I have my AA degree and my LVN so my credits will transfer, but I would be upset if this has changed since I have been taking a lot of classes online to get into this program. I live in an area with only one college and not enough classes for the amount of people that want to take the sciences and prereqs. Also, I work as a pediatric LVN and the online class schedule allows me to work on my homework when I am able to. If anyone from the faculty can reply to this post so we know if online classes are still accepted would you please let us know? Also, is Biochemistry still a prereq? Thank you!
