Anyone here attending cni college rn program?
Will employers really ask to see if you received your degree from a "wasc" accredited school?

New Grad leaving NYC RN jobs to pursue CALI job?
Born and raised in socal. I never knew that people who use the word "Cali" meant that they are from out of state? Lol. And if so , no one really minds or cares.

Can't even get classes.
So I took a class at Goldenwest College in huntington beach and the teacher made us talk to the classmates next to us to learn more about each other. This student told me that she drives all the way from Riverside to attend Goldenwest because she could not get into ANY classes she really needed at Riverside Community College. Next semester, I took a class at Santa Ana College and talked to another classmate in there. That classmate told me she was from Riverside and could not get any classes at the community college there so she drives all the way to Santa Ana to get a seat in the classes. Maybe you'll have to start commuting out here, but even then, the anatomy/physio/micro classes are booked with waiting lists.

Frustrated!!!!!!! Am I alone on this?
People have all sorts of reasons for doing things and we will never truly know a persons intentions. Whether it be for selfish reasons, or good reasons, you just gotta accept it and move on. Plus you never know, that person that wants to be a nurse for the money might just turn out to be a damn good nurse.

new grad LVN's
If getting your LVN in cali from an adult program where the cost is less than 6k or less, then I probably would have gotten my LVN just as a step up to my RN. But for me, the main reason was to work as an LVN to save up money with an LVN salary(coming from retail salary), get experience as a nurse and to also use as a "step up" to my RN. Otherwise, getting your LVN is an $18,000+ step up.... Or in my case, $26,000 step up. I know some schools around here in Cali that go for $34k just for your LVN now. If you can get into a cheap LEGIT program, like an adult school(make sure to check pass rates), then I would for sure say go for it. Otherwise if you're paying big money to get your LVN, pass. Just my 2 cents. Everybody sees it a different way. Whatever might work for me, might not work for you and vice versa. =)

new grad LVN's
My plan was to work for a a year or two as an LVN before applying to an lvn to rn bridge so I would have money saved up plus experience. That unfortunately didnt happen. I received my lvn, but no work. Also, you cant just "bypass" the waitlist. It depends on the school so make sure to do some research. There are some hoops to jump through to get into each schools lvn to rn bridge. Some schools require a year of working experience, while some only require you to be an lvn graduate but you would have to take an extra class. You'll see what Im talking about if you go this route. Try to go straight for your RN if possible. I would not recommend getting an LVN in california to anyone, unless you for sure have a job set already. Either way, which ever route you choose, I wish you the best of luck :)

I'm thinking of moving to southern CA (6+ yrs. LPN/LVN experience)
You can expect 20-23 at an LTC. Not too sure about hospitals

@ Brown eyed girl, With that much experience working as an LVN I am pretty sure it won't be THAT bad for you. Some places that I went in person to apply at seemed like they might have been interested in hiring me, but then asked me where I previously worked and how many years I have in, and when I told them I was new and had less than a year then they pretty much had a "oh darn, nevermind" look to them.

Im waitin for my nclex pn result!!!
You passed!! The pvt trick worked for everyone in my class including me. :) congrats

GWC or Saddleback Fall 2012
Since gw passes 8/10 students, compared to saddleback passing 9/10 students on the nclex. Big difference. You're right. In all honesty, its the students who decide themselves how good of a nurse they want to be its not based on your nclex scores. If the school was in the 70% and lower range, then I would probably think about switching schools.

Help please! Looking for LVN vocational programs in LA or OC area
Same story here. I graduated 12/2010. Licensed 5/11 and will be starting an RN program this fall like squirrel. Also work as a caregiver too and applying to every single job listing, hospital, etc in Orange County to Los Angeles. Have not been able to receive an LVN job for a year already. Unless you already have definite connections, then you're in luck. But if not, no bueno. And if you are already dead set on starting an lvn program, then you'll see what I mean. Good luck

GWC or Saddleback Fall 2012
Goldenwest has a great reputation for sure! They're known to turn out some awesome nurses. I'm sure Saddleback is pretty amazing as well. My friend graduated from there and is a great nurse. You definitely can't go wrong with either one. Why not choose the school that's closer? You'd have to deal with more traffic for the farther school. But if you liked the vibe better at Saddleback and wouldn't mind the extra minutes on the freeway, then go for it! By the way, did you get into both schools? Anyways, goodluck! =)

LVN moving to California (L.A.) - Advice needed!
Ive been a medical Assistant for a year and have worked as a caregiver/cna for an agency for 2 years. Still doing that as we speak. I apply to the new Craigslist Lvn job listing's every single time they get posted from La to OC. I have applied using indeed from LA To OC. Maxim Is an agency I see all the time but have never applied to. I have used literally every single job website but am told I'm not qualified when an employer sends me back an email. I drive to hospitals/snfs to apply as well. Maybe its just my luck but jobs for nurses with no actual nursing work experience are hard to come by; especially LVNs. Well, off to RN school I go!

LVN moving to California (L.A.) - Advice needed!
maxim will hire you as an lvn if you have had your license for a year? Will you need a year of lvn experience first?
