I was wondering if any of you MA's out there have any advice as to whether attending an accredited program is necessary. I found a school that offers the certificate but the school is non-accredited. The program is shorter an less expensive than the accredited programs I have found. The job marked here in the bay area is tough and I don't want to put a lot of time and money into an MA program and possibly not find work. I am an aspiring RN by the way, but really want to get into healthcare sooner than later.

Have you found a position yet? I am going to start a CNA program soon and was wondering how the Bay Area job market is? What's your status and if you are employed by now are you happy with the job you chose?

thanks everyone. I have decided to keep working on getting my RN and will probably do the CNA program once I am on the RN program waitlist. CNA's don't make much, but I really want to get my feet wet. I have no healthcare experience at all.

that is exactly what I was going to do but I wanted to work as an LVN for a couple of years before I applied to a bridge program. If there are no jobs I would be better off just pursuing my ADN or BSN.

I know the job market is terrible here in the Bay Area too. I am going crazy working in the restaurant industry and I want to be in healthcare sooooo bad. I am still contemplating spending the money and time in LVN school. I have two more prereqs, then I can apply to the ADN program but there is a two year wait list. I am however, contemplating getting a CNA certificate. It only takes a month and costs very little. I won't make much money as a CNA but at least I will gain experience while finishing my degree.

Thanks for responding. I will have to work unfortunately while in the program. I also have a two year old. I wonder if I am in over my head. My husband is super supportive. I liked the schedule. I think they told me it was from 9-3 and 6-3 for clinicals. Is that about right? Is there quite a bit of homework?

I am wondering if LVN's are having a hard time finding work after school. Most of the programs I am looking into have employment assistance. How is that working out for you?

I was wondering how you both are doing in this program. I am meeting with an Admin. Rep. next week. I have decided to go the LVN route first then work on my RN down the road. Are you liking the teachers? How is the morning program working out for you? Do you have many weekend clinicals? I would love some feedback! Thanks!
