my brother is taking november local board exams in cebu city...any review centers for local boards there u recommend? thanks for your help...your kind replies are greatly appreciated....:redbeathe
if you really are someone who took the licensure exam in nursing and not just some payed employee to post advertisements on the web, then you'd know about st louis. i dont think people should base how well the review center does just by having a website, thats where i went wrong with american dream review center. by the way, i didnt review in st louis but in power dev. im guessing you dont know where that is either.
bro, try mo yong American Dream Review Institute, they are100% passing rate on NCLEX Online Review/Intensive/Modular,
86% passing rate on Nursing Licensure Exam/NLE as of Nov. 2008,
100% passing rate on both IELTS and TOEFL iBT and more.
They also offer monthly BLS/CPR with AED & ECG Training. Visit American Dream Review website on http://www.americandreamreview.com for more information.
Thos numbers don't add up.
Only 40-50% of NCLEX takers in the Philippines pass
Only @40% of local board takers in the philippines pass
There is no way any review center can convince me that numbers like 100% and 86% are legitimate.
Those numbers are manipulated in the same way every other review center advertising percentages manipulates them.

If he failed NLE on his first go then he really needs to buckle down and study for his second go since the statistics are stacked against him.
My wife had an excellent experience studying at East-West review in Manila. I've met with the dean/administrator of the school myself and she's a little whacky but very nice and very intelligent.
Another Local Board school which focuses on high quality review materials and updates those materials as an ongoing process is CENE (Center for Excellence in Nursing Education) and they are publishing their own material.
He MUST pass Local board before being able to sit for NCLEX, I wouldn't even suggest filling in the application for licensure until he passes as the BONs are really bad for loosing incomplete applications and his will be classified as incomplete until he is licensed in the Philippines.
The only exception, of course, is that if he were a US citizen he would not have to be a local board passer.
There are only two NCLEX schools that I really reccomend and those are Allgen and Rachell Allen. Both of them have material prepared in the USA and certified by US nursing colleges. Both of them have high quality instructors and both of them treat the reviewees very well by focusing on small class sizes and one-on-one relationships. They get solid results too. A large majority of their students pass NCLEX on the first try.

Bro what im talking about are only the statistics of students who reviews on American Dream Review that pass on the NLE exam not the whole philippines

The problem is that NLE review centers (except for one that I know of in Manila) all claim 100% and 98% and all that garbage.
If half of them were telling the truth then the overall NLE passing rate would be much higher.
I tend to trust the review centers that line-list all the students by pass/fail and give honest 60% or 70% evaluations.
Most of the ones who claim 90-100% have these qualifiers that aren't listed in advertising... one of the most popular is that the review students who pass the mock boards that they provide with 80% or higher go on to pass the NLE. What they don't say is that only 30-40% of the TOTAL student body is passing the mock boards.
This is why CHED should be allowed to do their job and shut down illegitimate schools.
Nothing beats the study and preparation one have already done while still in school. Review centers can only polish what you've learned. So when I reviewed for the June boards which was just held last Saturday and Sunday, I treated it as just that, a review of what I have already learned.
I reviewed at Labagnoy review center in Cebu and I commend them for their program which covers a great deal of what one needs to focus on for the NLE and what I like about our review is that we were given longer time/schedule which started last March pa and that's everyday till june, at the same fee or even lower as other review centers. I guess their program is effective since they produce topnotchers in last november's boards including the top 1 from baguio.
Our reviewers taught us to focus on the subjects which one have weaknesses since one never knows what will come out in the actual board exam. And indeed come the boards I felt prepared and confident already.
So my tip is that review centers can only do so much, much of the work is in the students will and determination to pass. God bless!

Sorry po, im not yet eligible to send a private msg.
Regarding your inquiries with Labagnoy, I paid a total of 12T for the critical and final coaching. I wasn't able to attend the comprehensive(5T) since I was still graduating then. The entire review was from March 20 to June 4. I think they are starting the review for the November exams on August 18.
The good thing with Labagnoy is that they give back merits for deserving reviewees like cash prizes, trips, etc. I was fortunate to make it to one of the top scorers during our final critical exams and we were given an all expense-paid trip to Baguio, where the main branch is, to attend the final coaching there It was a great experience definitely for me and a definite motivation to do my best for the boards.:wink2:

Having already sat and failed the NLE he has to declare it when applying for licensure in the US and they will more than likely wait until he has passed it. Also with retrogression in the US and waiting years how is he going to maintain his nursing experience? There is only 1 testing center in the Philippines for NCLEX but there will be many review centers.
