Hey cebugirl,
Now, I didn't go to any review center when I studied for my boards. But this is what my friends had to deal in a review center. I don't want to mention names here, but I can assure you that they went to those well known review centers from both local and national-based centers who have a center here in Cebu. To be fair, their lecturers are mostly good (but not excellent), but somehow they tend to squeeze things too much ending up with a confused audience. Most often they rush their lectures, but its surprising that they spend more time for break periods. Those break periods are like variety show, lecturers would sing, joke, tell stories. I understand that those are "ice-breaker", but its a sad thing to note that the lecture time are being compromised for those none sense exhibition. Sad to realize that those are the very reasons why they end up rushing their lectures. By the way, most of the lecturers are part-time professional comedian (in a stand-up comedy bar in manila).... (believe me, I inquired). I wish those review centers would do something to improve their review program.
Just another tip, tell your bro not to study those old testpaper/ or from previous boards. Why? Because most don't have correct answers, and to add up, there are no rationale to study. Better invest in legit and original review books, be it for local or for NCLEX. DON'T PHOTOCOPY...it will just strain your eyes. Its good to think also challenging yourself to strive hard since you've invested much for your board preparation. Better buy those pre-paid testcard in C&E...its computer based and has rationale, and they even have analysis of your scores to point your weak spots. Try to answer atleast 100 Q&A per day from your review books/pre-paid card.
To put things in a nutshell, better study on your own; have discipline, have confidence; and most importantly pray and solicit prayers so that eveything will be alright during the day of your exams. Goodluck to your bro.

Hi there,
Try American Dream Review. I've had my reviews there and it's good to experience the sets of simulation tests they've given that helped me pass my exams.:)

Ive tried NG Review..... The point is... there is no review center that can garantee your passing..I suggest, What you need to do first is find out what kind of a learner are you..? and Which review center would help you in preparing
.ASk them how they do their Review classes are done??? it will give you an idea if it fits your learning style and your schedule too ...
Do you retrive much information..on remembering long and intenseve reviews ...?? or are you fine with the Question and Answer type of review... do you need visuals to help you remember ..do they have it on their classes??.. you can ask them or those who have tried that review center .. ??? it's really up to you
Good luck!!!

we had our review in powerDev.. and we didnt have long breaks. but if your brother can study on his own, books by Udan were very helpful, and the psych reviewer by gapuz. buy stuff made for local boards coz there really are people who use nclex reviewers for the nle.
@Mecebuano: seriously? part time professionals in a bar at manila? what review center is this?
my bro is studying at GAPUZ....did u guys recommend private tutor who passed NLE too? my bro is a second courser ..in his late 40s and his brain is kinnda crusty...i am just sending him my blood money:no:...i graduated in cebu back in 1985 (BSN RN NURSE MIDWIFE) and things have changed since then...:eek:we just did everything on our own back in the days:bow: and hope for the best...
CONGRATULATIONS to everybody for passing the NLE exams...and for your kind advice..

bro, try mo yong American Dream Review Institute, they are
100% passing rate on NCLEX Online Review/Intensive/Modular,
86% passing rate on Nursing Licensure Exam/NLE as of Nov. 2008,
100% passing rate on both IELTS and TOEFL iBT and more.
They also offer monthly BLS/CPR with AED & ECG Training. Visit American Dream Review website on http://www.americandreamreview.com for more information.
achilez you sound like someone who works for american dream. if youre going to review in american dream you might as well buy the saunders 4th edition if its for nclex, for local boards its st louis who is known for high passing rates. now for ielts, i asked if their instructors were qualified, i was told this "our instructors are very highly qualified" .. when i asked the instructor what her qualifications were, she said she just know who the owner is and was placed a job there. and i thought being highly qualified meant passing the ielts exam firsthand.
oh really?? i don't know that st louis is a review center i thought its a church or a chapel something like that. how much is the passing rate for NCLEX or NLE of that review center this year? do they have a website? so i can check? Or is this their website http://www.slrcinc.com/? it seems like that website is always coming soon I don't understand why they get the highest passing rate in fact they don't have a website.
thanks guys for kind reply. my bro did took nov boards and reviewed at GAPUZ in one of the hotels in fuente osmena..... he flunked the NLE boards... he has been in usa with me on a tourist visa since december 2008 and plan to go home to cebu to retake NLE boards in november. he is taking NCLEX review board here in my neck of the woods for the tune of 450 dollars but have not applied for nclex .
1. is there any limit to how many times he can retake NLE? he will be 48 next week so his memory is getting worse
2. does he have to be in PRC CEBU in person to reapply to take NLE? almost all of his classmates in the second courser class failed. i pray for the families too who struggle sending blood money that are all wasted..( IE...ME)
3. any advice on applying for NCLEX exams without NLE is greatly appreciated.
4. are there any NCLEX testing sites in cebu?
5. did you guys eat any special diet on NLE testing day? i told my bro to eat liver (atay) the night before. i wish i dont have to be paying my bro NLE exam fees to PRC until he reaches 100.
happy easter everyone and any piece of advice for my bro is greatly appreciated.:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat congratulations to ALL CEBUANOS that passed november nle boards...all my prayers to the ones who did not make it...just hang in there...:yeah:

SLRC is a great review center for Nurses. They don't have a website unlike other review centers. They thrive from word of mouth marketing. They're not proactive in marketing. They want their students to promote the review center to others. But I have to attest that it is indeed a great review center. I suggest that you visit their center if you want to know more about SLRC.
