i made a c in anatomy last semester and it looks like i will be getting a C this semester in physiology. I have an A and 2 B's in my other classes. last semester i had an A and 2 B's along with the AP I class. Do you think i still have a shot?
As you know A&P is the building block for nursing and your grade in this particular course is what many decisions are based on. It's extremely competitive here in GA. I would say if u lived here trying to get into a nursing school u wouldn't have a chance simply bc u must have a 3.0 to even be considered, while 90% of the applicants have between 3.0-4.0. I don't know the particulars and qualifications to the nursing program u plan to appy to, only you know that. I do wish u the best of luck and if its meant to be it will be. Just know that if nursing is what u want to do you should stop at nothing to achieve that goal.
A&P is hard - no doubt about it! I would urge you to retake them both because A&P is the foundation to nursing school. You must be very familiar with everything you learned in both classes because your instructors in nursing school will assume you know all of it and won't be doing any reviews. Your acceptance to nursing school is heavily base on your science GPA and A&P is the most I'm important of all of them. I don't mean to discourage you but I'm not so sure you would get in with 2 c's in A&P because it's just so important. Retake them both and study HARD. Read the chapters before class, don't study at the last minute, join a study group, ask questions, make charts and flash cards...You can do it!!! It will be a lot of had work but the outcome will be rewarding. I worked my butt off in A&P and pulled an A in both classes. You don't need to be a genius or 'naturally smart' to get A's in your science classes. It's all about effort and discipline. I wish you the best of luck and don't give up!!!

Also keep in mind that some schools average the C w the new grade you get. Whereas others will replace the grade w the higher one. Just ask the school u intend to apply to what their guidelines are where retakes are concerned.
Definately retake anatomy! Not just to get accepted into nursing school but for you to fully grasp the concept of it. Anatomy is very important and you will need to remember a lot of it when you start nursing school. They'll already expect you to understand it. It also wouldn't hurt to increase your chances of getting accepted also!! Good luck!!
Even if you got in with C's, you would most likely do even worse in nursing classes as you are lacking a strong A&P knowledge base. Retake them with the goal of thoroughly learning the material. If you aim to understand, the higher grade will be a natural side effect. You need to know this stuff for the rest of your career, so spend the time to learn it now.
I have a similar situation. . .Kind of. I went to a 4 year university, had fabulous grades in highschool, no problems getting in. I took AP I, and a couple other classes, but I failed AP. It was so hard!! I wasn't prepared, didn't have a car, and didn't know where I would be staying that night. I also got a D, and all the rest A's for that first semester. The second semester I dropped one class, but after it was done I finished with a C in Math 142, and Psy 101. Now I am at a community college, and all my other classes I have A's and B's. I even got an A in AP I and Micro 205. I will be applying for the nursing program this semester, and hope to get into the CEP program. Do I have to show them my old transcripts and just retake the only 2 classes that would have transferred? Or do I show them the transcript and explain that I had a little bit of a hard time, but now I am so motivated I only get 10 hours of sleep for 3 weeks just for studying! Will they look at the D in that one class even if it isn't required? Will they use the failed Ap I? I am so set on nursing, and I just dont want me being a late bloomer, etc to ruin my dreams. Any advice? Thanks in advance!
Hi, I would advise you to retake the course. When I first took AP 1 and 2 I received a B and C respectively. I later retook the AP 1 and 2 and received B+ in both classes. When it comes to AP nursing schools tend to be a bit more critical from my experience than say sociology and psych. If possible retake them. However, if this is enough to gain entrance into the nursing school of your choice then go ahead and apply. Just know that it would be in your best interest to go over the coursework before you stark clinicals. I hope to start an ABSN program this fall and I plan to reread my AP textbook ( all 600 plus pages) in the summer.
I wish you the best of luck.
