Hi! I'm a nurse from the Philippines and i want to work in the US. My concern is I have mild scoliosis. Is this going to affect my prospect of getting hired in the US? Also, what are the usual reasons nurses fail medical exams? Thanks.

Does your scolio ever interferes with your job as an RN? or daily activities at all? If not, I don't see why you can't pass your medical. take care of your health, don't smoke, drink, or stay up late. think happy thoughts...that will do you good ;-) goodluck!

dude...it's totally up to you, lol. i won't recommend it if you are close to your medical exams/check ups for u.s. embassy interview. you want to have a clean bill of health, right? study says..people who don't have enough rest or sleep, tend to get sick easily...you're a nurse, im sure you knew that :-)
i do stay up late too, but not all the time!
Well, no. It isn't that bad. Thanks so much, RNHawaii34! That makes me feel so much better. :wink2:

If you have no restrictions with working now, then it should not be an issue.

An infectious disease gives immigration a red flag. However, only the doctor conducting the medical exam can answer your health-related questions, and only the adjudicating officer can approve or disapprove your application based from immigration laws.

i am a hepa-b screening positive.. i had my hepa profile done 4 years ago and my gastro told me i am an active chronic carrier. this condition was never a hindrance to my work as a staff nurse here in my hospital. i am working for a year now. they accepted me to work even with this condition. i can say that i am healthy because i dont feel anything wrong at all.
but this has been bothering me for 4 years now.. my father needs to undergo angioplasty and some other procedures and my family cannot afford it right now so i am really in a hurry to work in us. my problem is if i can ever make it there. i passed cgfns and ielts this year, and i filed for visa screening 2 weeks ago.(thanks to my uncle who paid for the expenses) can some one tell me frankly if i can ever work as a nurse anywhere in the us? thanks a lot.
