I work with many nurses from other countries and they all have bidets at home. They are amazed by the obsession with toilet paper. My coworker from India said go outside and use the hose, it works better anyway ? or put a watering can in your bathroom... LOL

And on a final note I'll just add for those who think the police will protect you - The police only show up after a crime has occurred and investigate it so the criminal can be caught and prosecuted. The victim of said crime is still dead, raped, beaten etc...

WOW!, That's a tough way to live believing that rape, beatings, etc. is right around the corner for you. That's very stressful just to read about it.

So you believe the news? Mainstream media is the reason store isles are empty and people are in a panic over toilet paper. In case you didn't know you just can't walk into a store a buy a gun - not even a Walmart and that's a good thing. There are all kind of safe guards In place to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. I am your neighbor and I will protect you if necessary - but NEWS FLASH - Criminals don't follow guns laws and they will take your stuff, assault your family members etc..... If I go to buy a gun today I can't pick it up for 15 days and I must pass a federal background check and a guns safety test. Plus the gun tax and other fees involved.

No, I do not usually believe the mainstream news. I was just answering the question asking why people who already owned guns/ammo would buy more. In this case the gun shop owner and new buyers were being interviewed, all paper work was being done, people were not merely walking out with guns. I do understand that criminals dont follow the law, I also understand and am glad there are checks in place. I think we agree here?‍♀️

Agree, this is exactly why some people want (and have the right to) guns, for self protection.

Big difference between living believing that a crime is right around the corner for you and accepting that it is a reality that it could happen and if you are not prepared you will have no way to defend yourself.

I didn't say I was personally feeling that way - I was simply stating a fact about how the system works people are killed every day waiting for the police to arrive. I am not normally a violent person but I grew up in the country on a subsistence farm and learning how to shoot was part of my childhood. I take the guns out a couple/three times a year for practice and skeet. Haven't needed of wanted to hunt in years but that may change as I can't find any chicken at the store and rabbit is in season year round and an acceptable substitute.

I don't think people in those lines were looking for hunting guns because that's not what the stores are selling. They are selling "personal defense weapons."

I have NO problem with hunting and have an offer from friends with a full freezer of hunted meat to share with us. However, I get it that the way to assuage people's panic about needing a gun is to keep the grocery stores stocked which is mostly true in my area. I do have a big problem with hunters who drink while hunting. In the Spring, I would walk the hundreds of acres surrounding my property and clean up beer cans and the cardboard boxes that held 24 cans of beer. Orange clothing or not, never walked the woods during hunting season. Had several bullets fly across my deck. I don't know how many morons own guns - just know that they are out there and I prefer that people that careless not own an entire orificenal. Sandy Hook wasn't far from my house when that occurred. It's just one of those tragedies that shouldn't have happened and it made a scar on my heart.

Nothing wrong with buying a firearm and ammo to protect you or your family. Most of the people you see are probably first time buyers and are probably panicking. We also dont have enough police to cover if **** since they will be delegated to true emergencies only.
