real 911 calls, "believe" it or not!!

dispatcher: 9-1-1 what is your emergency?

caller: i heard what sounded like gunshots coming from the brown house on the corner.

dispatcher: do you have an address?

caller: no, i'm wearing a blouse and slacks, why?

dispatcher: 9-1-1 what is your emergency?

caller: someone broke into my house and took a bite out of my ham and cheese sandwich.

dispatcher: excuse me?

caller: i made a ham and cheese sandwich and left it on the kitchen table and when i came back from the bathroom, someone had taken a bite out of it.

dispatcher: was anything else taken?

caller: no, but this has happened to me before and i'm sick and tired of it.

dispatcher: 9-1-1 fire or emergency?

caller: fire, i guess.

dispatcher: how can i help you sir?

caller: i was wondering.....does the fire dept. put snow chains on their trucks?

dispatcher:! yes sir, do you have an emergency?

caller: well, i've spent the last 4 hours trying to put these chains on my tires and... well.. do you think the fire dept. could come over and help me?

dispatcher: help you what?

caller: help me get these chains on my car!

dispatcher: 9-1-1 what is the nature of your emergency?

caller: i'm trying to reach nine eleven but my phone doesn't have an eleven on it.

dispatcher: this is nine eleven.

caller: i thought you just said it was nine-one-one

dispatcher: yes, ma'am nine-one-one and nine-eleven are the same thing.

caller: honey, i may be old, but i'm not stupid. ;)

dispatcher: 9-1-1 what's the nature of your emergency?

caller: my wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart.

dispatcher: is this her first child?

caller: no, you idiot! this is her husband! :lol2:

and the winner is..........

dispatcher: 9-1-1

caller: yeah, i'm having trouble breathing. i'm all out of breath. darn....i think i'm going to pass out.

dispatcher: sir, where are you calling from?

caller: i'm at a pay phone. north and foster. damn......

dispatcher: sir, an ambulance is on the way. are you an asthmatic?

caller: no.

dispatcher: what were you doing before you started having trouble breathing?

caller: running from the police. :nono:

We had a very sad incident recently in our town....a man called 911 to report that his wife had cut her stomach on something, wasn't sure how it happened, and to send an ambulence. The dispatcher told him "Okay, Mr. So-and-So, we've got you". Mr. So-and-so replied "How did you know it was me?" The dispatcher replied quizzically "Uh, it came up on the screen". Of course the dispathcer meant they had his address...Turns out, the husband had stabbed his wife, and thought they meant they knew he did it. After the ambulence came and took her away, the police tried to come in to do a formal report, he shot the police officer, then locked himself in, shot and killed his two kids and then shot and killed himself. Definately sad, not funny, but ironic when they released the 911 call.........Makes you think twice.

We recently had very upsetting 911 call in our area. A 12 year old girl called 911 several times saying shehad been kidnapped. Each tiem she would call she would give descriptions or the car she was in the trunck off and her kidnapper. There was a Amber Alert and the whole state was searching for this car. About 12 hours later it was finally anounced that the 911 calls had been traced and it was all a prank. Thankfully nothing really happened while all the police this area were searching for the allegid car.

Remember the show "rescue 9-1-1"? The one where the kid calls on a cordless phone because his tongue is stuck to the inside of the fridge?

MY husband works at the EMS side of the call center in our town.

Some of the calls I have heard visiting him at work.....

MY air conditioner broke.....uuuuhhh do you need an ambulance?

.

I got a ride in a cop car once. I had not done anything wrong but was in a fender bender and was really young and shaken up that I locked myself out of my car so the cop had to drive me to work, which really sucked because I was a pizza delivery driver! Anyway, a call came in on the radio that a call came in regarding one neighbor calling on another neighbor because they were "stealing apples off their tree and throwing them at them when they told the to get off the property." They cops said these people call all the time...:roll

"Caller: I was running from the police."

LOL! :lol2: It makes you wonder how these people survive in the wild!

I sat in on a hearing where a man was arrested for drunk driving. His argument against the arrest was that he was already out of his car and at the front door when they cops arrested him. Like its okay to drink and drive if you make it home....

:uhoh21: :uhoh21: :imbar As a student in the ER A police officer brought in a man who miss dialed 911 hung up and thought that would be the end of it, however the officer said when he knocked on the man's door he opened it saw the officer and slammed the door shut and ran out the back door in to the path of another officer. This guy was making his own drugs. Needed to have test before jail to find out what he was high on for everyones safty.

I was talking with a friend who works with EMS and one night they were dispatched to a residence of a man with a little too much time on his hands. It seems he was in the hot tub and got a little curious, and in the process got his member stuck in the jet. a neighbor was walking by and he asked the neighbor to hand him his cell phone, and he called 911. They had to drain the water and dismantle part of the hot tub to get him loose.:chuckle

I remember that episode. :lol2:

I worked as a telephone operator for several years and a lot of the smaller counties that we provided service for did not have 9-1-1 in place yet. So they would just dial O for operator. Every full moon we got a phone call from a lady that just wanted to let us know that she was going to go stick her head in the oven. Yes I did ask, her oven was electric. The saddest call though was from a lol who said her husband left that morning to work outside on their farm and he never came back. Her call came in at 11:00pm and she sounded very upset. I didn't know if she was confused or if her husband was still outside so I called the sheriff's department but I never found out what happened.

Goodness - that's scary that they didn't respond to that appropriately. I used to work as a dispatcher (911 + all law enforcement areas because we are a small area) and it was our protocol to send law enforcement to EVERY 911 call even if we think it's a prank.

There was a case recently with a young (6-9 yo range I think) boy calling 911 because his mom was unresponsive and the 911 dispatcher didn't take him seriously right away and the mom ended up dying.

It's a real 911 call...not so funny...A five year old boy called 911, told dispatcher that mommy wasn't breathing-dispatcher told the poor kid to stop playing with the phone, and to put adult on the line-no one dispatched

Three hours later-he calls back repeats his story, and a DIFFRENT DISPATCHER still won't believe the poor kid. Threatens to send the cops out if he doesn't stop playing on the phone. An hour later the police arrive(sure it was sent out as non-emergency)

Mom is dead on the floor-heart problems...

The dispatchers were suspended and after an investigation now face a year in prison:o

That is unbelievable!!! I worked for San Francisco 911 for three years, and we always had to send the police out for any child that would call. We would even have to send them out for a hang up if we could not get a response on the call back. This is absolutely terrible. Those dispatchers should have been fired! Sad.

Here's a good one:
