Are all nurses that wear white dorks?
Our hospital system is thinking of going back to all white. The majority of nurses have said "No Way!" I personally hate the thought of wearing all white. i have some of the most unusual bright colored scrub tops in my unit.

Real 911 calls.....
I was talking with a friend who works with EMS and one night they were dispatched to a residence of a man with a little too much time on his hands. It seems he was in the hot tub and got a little curious, and in the process got his member stuck in the jet. a neighbor was walking by and he asked the neighbor to hand him his cell phone, and he called 911. They had to drain the water and dismantle part of the hot tub to get him loose.:chuckle

Share Your Funniest Patient Stories...
I went in to admit a direct admit to our tele floor, a 40 something man. The aide was getting his vitals, and it was almost shift change so all I had to do was make him comefortable. I just asked " So, what brings you to the hospital?" I couldn't believe the reply. He states " I was making love with my wife and my heart starts a pounding, and I try to keep going, but then I start getting a headache at the back of my head, and it's so bad that I just have to stop." I kept a straight face and go, "Headaches, huh, ok, I'll go check your orders." I get back out to the nurses station and the aide is already there telling the whole story with everyone laughing. That when the aide points at me and says, " and all she does is go, headaches , huh?

I have really messed up.
I think that you are an excellent nurse who handled herself professionally and couragously when you owned up to your mistake. I am trying to get into L&D at the hospital I work at, just applied for an opening at their unit. I tried right out of school but our hospital requires at least 1 year of med/surg experience to get into any of the "specialty" fields. Just remember that you are the patient's advocate and let that help steer your decisions. Good luck in the future.

Do You Have Male Nurses on your Unit?
I have worked in two different hospitals with male nurses. All the male nurses I have worked at were extremely professional and competent. I would have any of them be my nurse for anything, even L&D.

What W.Virginia towns/cities do you recommend working in and why?
Hi. I live in the Wiley Ford area, and work in Cumberland, Maryland only 15 minutes away. I've also lived and worked in the Keyser area (my hometown). There are several hospitals nearby and lots of other type of nursing, home health, nursing homes, ect. The location is rural, cost of living low, and we are a small enough area that crime and drugs are not a daily site in the ER. Schools are great and kids are safe playing outside. I love it here and never plan on leaving.
